I like the new ebb and flow of the software releases. I despised the old major release and forget cycles. We all know why it's possible. The company is public, and has to hit metrics that appeal/value. Avid works for them, not us. It's not a bitching thing. It's reality. Now Avid can make more consistent numbers, and that allows for more consistent everything else.
Quality has climbed, IMHO, quite a bit over the last two years. Go back and look at all the releases 2-7 years ago. There were lots of threads filled to the brim with folks complaining of software that was bug ridden and unreliable. Now we bitch about no new releases in 5 months.
Should we have to pay $$ every year? Nope. It's not a perfect world. I don't like it one bit. It still feels like extortion. But my every day music-making existence is better now than it was two years ago.
