Interesting about your shoes, my PT10.3.7 is doing this too since I installed the infamous AIRIEP. I'm on OSX10.8.4.
I've found that, if I run up PT11.0.2, close it and then start PT10.3.7 it finds its shoes. Maybe it's wearing eleven's?
