Thumbs down Protools 9 on 13" Macbookpro i7 Compatibility

I had protools 8 on my older macbookpro and that computer dogs these days, so I bought a brand new 13" macbookpro with i7 processor. Turns out protools 8 WON'T run on the new OS, sooo I bought the protools 9 upgrade for $400.

The install did not work and after looking further into protools 9 requirements I find that only 15" & 17" macbookpros with i7 processors will work...BUT 13" unibodys and even 13" macbooks will work. How is this possible?

I just spent over $2k to get this new setup going and I know that I should have looked more into the requirements but after owning 3 different macbook pros and having protools run fine on all of them I felt safe to assume that this one would have no problems...why are there loopholes in this software's compatibility?
