Kudos for building your own computer, but with LE8, I would have stayed with Windows 7 64 bit. One thing that may be worth trying is; change the driver you are using for firewire. You may end up changing back, but sometimes its the change that "wakes things up". Avid is always recommending the Legacy driver, but that never worked for me(003 on Win 7). The TI Compliant driver was always the winner here.
