I hope some of you folks can give me some suggestions - thanks.

While mastering, I am trying to match the volume of a reference track from a CD, but after I bounce down to CD and compare with the reference, my track is much louder.

Here is what I am doing:

* After I import the track (AIFF) , I compare the volume of my track and I notice they both hit the same level on the faders.

* My track sounds louder and I solve this by using a Sonnox Limiter plugin to reduce the volume.

* After I bounce my track and burn to CD (itunes) and listen to it on my stereo system my track is much louder.

Is there something I am not doing right while importing the reference track from the CD?
Should I think about changing the import encoder on itunes from AAC to WAV or something else?
Is there any reason why I should not use itunes & use another program? In terms of audio quality itunes actually seems ok. It's just this volume issue that I need to overcome....
