Because it's Pro Tools.

You need a Pro Tools capable/compatible audio interface. Just "any sound card" will not do.

The MIDISPORT is just a MIDI interface; no audio. So that will not work for running Pro Tools.

The Transit is probably your cheapest route to qualified sound hardware for MPowered. The have it at Musician's Friend for $79
