For the longest time I ran PT11.3.2 on OSX 10.10.5 and like you there were several things that needed El Crapitan or higher to run. I decided to skip that and went to OSX 10.12.6. I knew there were issues with that combo one of which is being able to import audio via the drop down menu. You can still import audio via drag and drop from Finder though. I don't know if there are other issues with this combo.

You could, if your system drive is big enough, split it into two partitions and put a newer OSX on the other partition which is what I did. So I have one partition with OSX 10.10.5 and the other with OSX 10.12.6 and have the latter partition set as my boot-up partition. Remember that by holding down the option on the computer keyboard you can select what partition to boot into or that can also be set in OSX preferences.

What exact version of PT11 do you have? Oops - just saw you have PT11.3.1; I don't know if this will work with that version. If you need further help with that PM me and we'll discuss.
