I fixed this problem, I think it's some sort of conflict with new OSX or maybe with new PT folder locations. It has to do with documents folder permissions.

Basically I changed the permissions on my documents/pro tools folder to be "read and write" (and selected the action to apply to all subfolders) for all main users and administrators. It required me to click the + symbol and manually add "administrators" and anything else that looked right, and made sure they were allowed.

That totally fixed the issue for me.
