8.0.4 is an update only. The OP needs to run the installer for either 8 or 8.0.3(these are full installers) first. Then, I would skip 8.0.4 and go with 8.0.5, because 8.0.4 has a major timing issue with audio placement. I would also double the RAM with a second stick that is the exact same part number as the first stick(4GB of RAM is dead minimum for operating Windows 7). I would also remove the current RAM, put the new stick in that slot and move current stick to the other slot(just in case, the BSOD is caused by the RAM being not seated all the way, or having dirty contacts....yes, I realize this is a stretch, but you never know
