Default Re: recording of violin

Hey ISed:

Absolutely it would help! It is similar to having a two sided gobo with a "live" side (usually just thick (3/4") ply) or playing facing an untreated wall. Any live surface will provide another bright bounce. Then just decide if you think it adds in a positive way.

Try moving things around (mikes and surfaces). An inch can still make a GREAT amount of difference to the sound color.

I still love Glynn John's approach. Cover one ear and listen...... when you hear the sound you like, put the mike THERE.

Best Regards
