I would guess so. It works on my 2007 Core 2 Duo Imac, so I would think it would work on a newer, more powerful one.
I don't know the technical reasons, but I believe with Macs, you get one buffer size lower than on Windows. For USB interfaces, that's 64, and for firewire interfaces, it goes down to 32.
