Re: Voice Click Removal

The apple thing is often effective as a preventive measure. However, sometimes that might be a bit awkward depending on the talent or situation! For VO especially, at conservative recording levels...

Re: Normalize shortcut

Unless I'm missing something, other than the fact that Audiosuite>Normalize finds a selection's peak level and calculates FOR you the amount of gain adjustment required to bring it up or down to the...

Re: EQ-ing chorus out of a bass?

OMG, if someone would just invent a "de-chorus" plug-in, we could finally unsuck a ton of gtr/bass parts from our 80's band recordings! :-D

Re: New Mac book Pro with FireWire?

FWIW, I have been recording/mixing many sessions on the 2.8 GHz MacBook Pro with 9-10 tracks or so (24-bit, both 44 and 48K sample rates) using the internal 5400 hard drive, with no problems at all....

Re: MBox 2 Pro and FW 800

If your LaCie drive offers both FW800 and FW400 ports, simply switching it to the Mac's FW400 port will fix your problem -- I'm using one of their 250GB drives this way with the MB2P.

Re: Adapter Vst to Rtas

It's by fxpansion and works very well with most mainstream and legitimately-purchased VST and VSTi plug-ins.

Re: Firewire 410 is a failure

Unfortunately, disabling the FW networking pref (which IS enabled by default, BTW) only reduces the frequency of the bad-clock/no-audio output problems at startup by about 25%. That is, about 3 out...

Re: Firewire 410 is a failure

You may indeed have hit on something important, JrummerJ. I just changed this preference, and for the first time in many many weeks, playback from an existing 48K PT session has been "normal" the...

Re: Firewire 410 is a failure

[QUOTE]

Thanks for your suggestions. Have NOT tried installing an older M-Audio driver - is that truly going to be OK with PT-MP 7.3.1 and Mac OS 10.4.9? Yes, I have trashed the preferences once...

Re: Firewire 410 is a failure

One more here, with ongoing problems getting the FireWire 410 to work reliably. (Mac OS 10.4.9 on a mirror-door dual G4 1.25 GHz, with a LaCie 250FB ext. FW hard drive which has been tried via...

Re: Need help removing guitar string clicking

Try a de-esser, sliding the key frequency way down somewhere around 2.5K or 4K. Haven't had occasion to try it on a clicky bass myself, but it sometimes has done the trick on acoustic guitar squeaks,...

Re: Pro Tools LE is mono only

Something to check, per your speculation that it might be something dumb... (Please, no offense if this thought is really TOO dumb!)
Are the stereo outputs of the Mbox 2 Pro connected 1) directly...

Re: M-Audio 410 Firewire + Mac = high pitched noise?

No high-pitched noise, but has anyone else had THIS problem?
First time I open PT, playback from the 410 is always aliasy, digital hash (both playback and recorded audio, as I initially discovered...

Elastic AUDIO, or Elastic TIME?

Which is the correct name? All the latest PDF documentation (dated 11/6) calls it nothing but Elastic Audio (always talks about EA plug-ins, EA-enabled tracks, etc.), just as all the press releases...

Re: sound Sample Play back plug in

Would using the Play button in the Import Audio dialog serve your purpose?
(You wouldn't actually import the files you're auditioning into PT afterwards.)

Re: Transit 88.2?

I know from the product specs that Transit supports 88.1/96 kHz in unidirectional mode. But does the Pro Tools software itself support this sample rate with Transit?
(Somewhere along the line, I...

Re: What HD feature(s) do you want in LE?

Here's an easy one: SMPTE timecode ruler.
When you post videos with LE, using a QT movie as the master, it's annoying that you can't immediately talk precise seconds:frames with video editors...

Re: Constant Buzz from Mbox

If your problem is a constant twittering or chirping noise (sounds kind of like SMPTE timecode) in the analog audio outputs (which doesn't show up in bounced files), this MIGHT be caused by several...

Re: differerences between MP & LE?

Compared to LE, MP:
--doesn't include the Pow-R Dither plug-in (Digidesign Dither only)
--doesn't support the DV Toolkit option or DigiTranslator.
--doesn't support the Control|24 control surface...

Re: 1814 + Mpowered latency?

Sorry this is only a tangential answer to your question, but if you open the control panel (from HW setup) for the 1814, you will see that there are some relatively sophisticated direct monitoring...

Re: Will M-Powered import omf files?

No. DigiTranslator is required (which is also part of DV Toolkit for LE), and neither of these is supported for M-Powered. So you would have to bounce out individual tracks separately from the source...

Re: Sluggish/jerky movement on screen

If your CPU Usage Limit is at max. (in Playback Engine dialog), try reducing the percentage to see if this improves your response time for screen redraw during playback.

Apples 'n' oranges. Yes, possible. No, won't have any negative effect on PT/SX stability. Go for it. :-)

Re: MP3 export problem ...please help

Yeah.... But for now, you're working with Flash folks, right? Give them full-res files (WAV/AIF 44 kHz mono/stereo). Then sit with them once as they export the Flash project, & have them show you...

Re: MP3 export problem ...please help

Funny timing—I was just ranting to someone about this last night!
If you have access to a copy of Flash (there are 30-day timeout demo versions available on Macromedia's site...
