Is there any danger in trashing all preferences, either by deleting the folder or using one of the mentioned programs? Does it harm the data of a session/project, be it waveform data or plugin data?

As far as I can remember, yes. I think I set it so that pro tools always runs as admin. I just find it strange that my 11rack has been running fine with no problem on 6 year old drivers

Yeah, I tried that several times. sometimes I'm able to get it to playback in a session, and everything seems to be working. then I try and open another project and I'm back where I started.

I guess if it works for me there's no real reason to upgrade. Since my computer is far from overcompered when running big sessions i doubt that ill have the need...
