You should use the Playlists.
1.Create a New Playlist on the main vocal track
2.Drag and drop an alternate take
3.Do it over with the 6 other tracks

Once you're done, switch to Playlist...

It's gonna be easier if before applying the automation, you mute the send then automate the unmute just...

I had the same problem few month ago before I switch to Mac.
I don't know why PT does act like that.
Instead of relinking the files it's better to move the missing file from the newly created...

Unplug all your interfaces.
Plug your iLok, launch Protools.
Before opening a session, go to Setup > Playback engine and choose:
Protools Aggregate I/O, push the buffer all the way up....

It's veryu good as long as you have a nice, tight and clean submix to trigger the Rider ! It acts like a real time "adaptative" compressor ! but sounds smoother !

Get in touch with the seller! Even if he used his interface with GB, when he bought his 003, it must have come with everything, including the Setup guide. The Authorization Code is on a sticker...

You didn't mention it in your workaround...Have you tried the other USB port?
Also try to verify and repair Permissions in you disk utility.
Check on the iLok website if everything is fine...
