I know it's usually bad form to reply to one's own post but in this case I have to. As it turns out the interface in question can use either USB bus power or external power supply. Bus power is iffy...

You really have no clue what I'm talking about. Sure the interface plugs into the computer but it (the interface) also needs power from an external adapter you plug into AC power. You do have that...

You don't have your interface's power adapter connected and plugged into the wall outlet as well? Once again - going from PT10 to PT11 and installing the latest driver for the interface has...

What's not to understand about how your equipment is plugged into the AC power? Is everything on the same outlet? Completely different animal than the USB or audio connections.

I asked how is everything connected to the AC mains (line power)? All the same outlet, etc.?

Once again the drivers have nothing to do with what you're experiencing.

I don't think it's the driver. How's everything connected to the AC mains power? There may have been something that crapped out in the interface.

One thing that just hit me that no one mentioned - get a new mic cable. They do go bad you know.

Something changed and it has NOTHING to do with changing PT versions. Get a book or two on how PT works. I'd suggest the PT101 courseware book.

You could also be having hardware problems.

Ideally you want to keep levels in the green - consider yellow the new red. Remember that the levels shown on meters are not the incoming level before the a/d converter in you interface - make sure...
