Re: loosing sends wet/dry while mixing

Compared to what I'm on now, I'd call an HDX 2 a Monster. I imagine it would take a bit of effort to max one out, especially with a Stereo only (non 5.1) mix.

Re: loosing sends wet/dry while mixing

Well it's always worked for me, always have at least two fx, one for the kick, the other for the snare routed to the Drum buss. I wouldn't really want to share them with other instruments as I've...

Memory Location Window issue

I've been given several sessions created in PT9. I'm opening them in PT8.0.1cs2 . I don't seem to be able to view the memory locations window in two of the sessions. I've tried resizing my monitor...

Re: Is TDM on the way out???? (sorry, lame opener)

Quick addendum. I was wrong about Waves IR1, it does behave just as Altiverb. Initially when I instantiated it, it had no IR loaded. The moment I loaded one there was the delay that increases with...

Re: Is TDM on the way out???? (sorry, lame opener)

Actually this depends on the plugin. Just did a quick test and none of the Digidesign RTAS plugins had any inherent delay, so the effect isn't evident. Nor was it with Waves IR verb. However with...

Re: Is TDM on the way out???? (sorry, lame opener)

Mmmm, strange. I'm still on PT8 on an HD system. So either things have changed, but I thought that this effect of the Hardware buffer on native plugin delay was unavoidable , or there is some problem...

Re: Is TDM on the way out???? (sorry, lame opener)

So in the compensation window at the bottom of the channel strip, the reported delay should increase, whenever you increase the hardware buffer. I just realized that my earlier post was a bit...

Re: Is TDM on the way out???? (sorry, lame opener)

Are you sure that you have either short or long "delay compensation" option selected in the 'Playback Engine" setup ?

Re: Is TDM on the way out???? (sorry, lame opener)

Try bringing up an Aux track, assign a processor hungry RTAS Plugin, preferably a convolution reverb. Now have a look at how many samples of delay compensation is being applied to that track. OK, now...

Re: Is TDM on the way out???? (sorry, lame opener)

One thing that some people seem to be forgetting about purely Native systems, is that plugin latency is affected by The Hardware Buffer. Double the H/W buffer and you double the latency of RTAS...

Re: OMF has open up mono tracks when they should all be stereo!!

OMF is an Avid file format. Both Cubase and Logic will create "OMFs" that have Stereo tracks with interleaved files. As this doesn't confirm to Avid specs, I guess it's debatable wether or not they...

Re: Carbon Copy Cloner (or sim) copy Disk Authorisations?

The solution I used was to load Leopard on to a new disc, then do fresh installs of everything. I kept my old Tiger drive as is and put it in an external firewire case, like you I wanted to reboot in...

Re: Pt hd 7.3 + 888/24 = help!!

I had a similar if not identical issue recently. The 888 accessing the legacy port of my 96 IO was 6db too high when used as an insert. After a lot of head scratching, updating the firmware on my 96...

Re: Attaching a 888 to legacy

If the 192 is the same as the 96, then the legacy port addresses IOs 17-24. 9-16 would be the 192's digital or optional analogue IO. I recently had an issue using a 888 via the legacy port of my 96,...

Re: Failed connection between HD 96 and 882 I/O interfaces

If your using the legacy port on a 96 IO, the legacy units IO's should be assigned to IO's 17-24. IO's 9-16 will only address spdif or AES IO's on the 96.
