Re: Atmos Best Practices

Garret that was kind of my starting point - that the end result would be essentially the same with the majority of likely listeners. That being said I always like to get myself in good habits early...

Re: Atmos Best Practices

Thanks so much! I've been sort of heading towards the more theatrical approach you describe - more objects for focused action moving around - but it's hard with an existing mix to move every single...

Atmos Best Practices

Hi folks, I'm just getting my feet wet with Atmos, remixing a recent 6-episode series into Atmos per the client's request. So far I'm having a ball, but I'm very curious how other folks are...

elastic audio tracks causing problems when importing session data

Hi, thought I posted this to Post but not seeing it so I'm reposting here. ProTools Ultimate 2022.7.0 on a Mac.

I came all the way from a 2019 version, and when I upgraded I'm unable to "link to...

Re: Unexpected behaviour importing elastic tracks

Thank you, someone else seeing this issue! Anyone else seeing this? I've got large Post sessions and can't find a combination of settings that will let me link to source audio with elastic engaged....

Re: Hackintosh latest details?

Weird but interesting!

Avid offers me a $999 upgrade from PT10HD to PT12HD, then I saw your Scarlett is $500, that's pretty tempting to at least get up and running.

Re: Hackintosh latest details?

okay sorry I know this is veering off topic, I've lost track of all the versions and upgrade paths, seems to me it's deliberately confusing.

But I do post work, so recording 2-3 mics at a time for...

Re: Hackintosh latest details?

Wait, don't you need either and HDX card, or an HD Native pcie card or thunderbolt box to run HD? Obviously a PCIe card would work with a Hack vs needing to go thunderbolt for a trashcan mac.

I...

Re: Hackintosh latest details?

Thanks guys!

Grayter I would be curious about Kontakt, I don't use it a ton but would miss it.

Are you both hd native or hdx?

I'm not a gearhead - is there any reason to believe that the...

Hackintosh latest details?

Hi folks, I've been rocking a hack for over 4 years (knocking on wood) and while it took some setting up, and is showing its age, it's done great.

Looking at updating based on tonymac recommended...

HAL 9000 clips

Hi guys, I'm doing a sort of experimental sound installation for a party at a co-working place, and they are doing a 2001 theme. I'd like to have some HAL 9000 clips scattered around, but all a quick...

Re: Could not complete the import tracks command because basic_string::at

Thanks all

He did a render and replace with the audio and then exported, but still no love. Wouldn't that fix any sample rate or corrupt audio issues?

Going to have him try the OMF and the...

Could not complete the import tracks command because basic_string::at

a search is turning up nothing at all on this, so here goes.

Starting a feature so I'm getting AAFs out of his Premiere project. He has it in a bunch of reels (11!) and sent them each separately....

Re: Dropbox, Drive, Gobbler, oh my

So, Ray, have you had people outside your Airport network access the NAS as well? Are there tricks to the IP addressing that need to be resolved?

Looks like ChronoSync with ChronoAgent installed...

Re: Dropbox, Drive, Gobbler, oh my

Whoa that Synology looks great. Does it require a lot of networking knowledge, or can I just hang it off my airport / Charter modem and roll?

What that makes me realize is that what I really want...

Dropbox, Drive, Gobbler, oh my

I've tried everything over the years for delivery to clients, and use whatever someone prefers, but I am ready for a real solution TODAY for cloud-based syncing of ProTools sessions.

eg:

I...

Nudge data within current clip stops working

this cropped up the other day, but I forgot about it till it resurfaced just now.

I use the control - +/- constantly when editing to scoot audio around within the clip boundaries, and it always...

Re: composer files drifting quickly

that's a good thought, but I think the editor is just sending him individual clips for scenes to score, with window burn, and I'm just going off that window burn.

He's currently confirming with...

Re: composer files drifting quickly

thanks guys. Unfortunately a .91875 adjustment (441 to 48) doesn't help. Pitch *seems* right as they came to me, though it's mostly synth or sampled strings and percussion so it's impossible to say...

composer files drifting quickly

Hi guys, getting files from a composer, and lining up via time code he was given at the start of each cue's movie. However his files are drifting, and quite a bit - on the order of 8 seconds late...

Re: remote recorder

Thanks for all the tips, wish I could justify the real gear now, but I'll have to continue renting as needed for the real jobs. Gonna play with a buddy's H4N in the meantime, I like Noiz2's camera...

Anyone used the Tascam DR-40 (which is what I meant when...

remote recorder

Need a solution for remote recording, preferably under $500. H4n seems to be the way to go, right? Hr-40 gets mixed reviews, Olympus seems hacky, Marantz are pricey and lack some of the quick...
