Re: STACKING Audiophile 2496 CARDS

Seems like a good idea. I hope you post what you find out so we all know. Still, it seems like a limitation of the LE series (that's deliberate) to only allow one interface at a time.

Re: Firewire Audiophile 2496

I think you missed that he said Firewire Audiophile. The PCI is supported, it doesn't look like the FW version is otoh. Glad to know the compato site has been updated now.

Re: STACKING Audiophile 2496 CARDS

I think we'd have to get digi and M-Audio's positions on this. OTOH I don't know why someone would get multiple 2496s instead of a used 1010 (which is running in the low 2-300 dollar range) or a 192...

Re: Echo on demo

Hey guys, thanks a lot! I'm going to print this out and take it with me when I visit him this weekend.

Echo on demo

Hi, I'm asking this on behalf of my brother who doesn't have web access. I installed PTF on a Win98SE partition on his main drive. He's got the ADI SoundMax onboard sound and it starts up just fine...

Re: Just bought a \"blem\" 1814 from MF for $479

Argh, sorry to hear that. I wonder if you can get them to send you a new unit at the same price due to the hassle. I hope so.

Re: \'upgrade\' for 001 users with M-Audio gear?

That would be a great idea. I have a feeling that someone would have to hack PTMP for that to happen though.

Oh and MPark - the 001 isn't over ten years old. Maybe you're thinking the Audiomedia...

Re: M-Powered vs. LE

I can't say I was particularly impressed by the pre's on the Mbox. Certainly how one hears things is a bit individual making any argument on that point moot. Could you tell me what it is you like...

Re: ...pay again?

Ouch. It seems to me to make a lot of sense to tie PT to the TDM system (like what the heck is a consumer going to do without it -PT- for one thing; both being expensive pieces of equipment that can...

Re: Just bought a \"blem\" 1814 from MF for $479

Damn straight it's cheaper! Since PTMP is going for $300 at guitar center (must be cheaper elsewhere) this makes a damn fine system for hundreds of dollars less than the 002r - and it's portable!

Re: M-Powered vs. LE

I'm not saying an M-audio unit is better per se. I'm saying that for a lot of people (including me) I think it's a better *deal*. I didn't like the M-box for reasons I've stated and I'd never buy...

Re: M-Powered vs. LE

That may be true (however I've only used the M-box on Mac systems), but it still has latency issues. Last I checked you couldn't buy an M-box w/o PTLE and for what you're getting hardware-wise...

Re: M-Powered vs. LE

I bought an audiophile 192 not long ago and haven't had a chance to set it up yet. I know from having used the m-box that there's latency issues there. I'd like to hear more specifics on what it is...

Re: M-Powered vs. LE

Considering that this is brand-spanking-new I wouldn't expect to see anything about this on either site. There isn't even a compatibility list for it on compato. Best bet is to email support and...

Re: Anyone running PTF on XP in\'98 compatability m

You could *try* using Vmware or Virtual PC but I've looked through the entirety of the forums and haven't found any other answer than it isn't usable in Compatibility Mode. If you have a supported...

Re: Free Protools crashes Windows 98 every time.

Also make sure that you're using 98SE and not the first edition (aka Gold).
Don't use ME.

A gig of RAM for 98/ME is a lot. You'll need fixes. Get the unofficial 98SE service pack.

Google is...

Re: PTFree wont\' run.. (WinME)

Well there's so many possibilities it's hard to sort them. ME/98SE don't tend to respond well to that much RAM. ME I've found to crash whenever it wants to for any reason whatsoever.

That said...

Re: DirectX Plug ins

Fxpansion specifically states that their vst>rtas wrapper is for PT 6.x only. It's possible (but highly unlikely) that someone's gotten it to work with Free/5.x. However in my travels on their forum...
