Not sure, but maybe take a look at Studio One. I remember reading that it can do DDP and redbook CD's. Not sure if the basic versions do it, but its worth a look:o

Wavelab Elements is pretty decent. I still use CD Architect 5.2 on Windows 10 and rarely have any issue. Could it be your optical drive that's to blame? For "quick and dirty" burning(like to check in...

Are you trying to actually mix in surround or stereo? If stereo, I get your logic of setting Optical to SPDIF for 2-channels, but the receiver may only work in 5.1(or 7.1) over optical connections....

I had no issues running an Mbox 2 PRO on Windows 7 or Windows 10, so I can't imagine why the Mbox 3 should have troubles(other than an incompatible motherboard or FW controller which isn't the fault...
