in a word, no.

codemeter allow this functionality, even over the internet. it's very slick.

as long as you're using powered usb hubs you can add more than one.

it very much depends on your project format and the number of tracks. if you expect to run at 96k/24bit you'll find that things grind to halt pretty fast.

plug in an empty fw drive. install 10.5 onto it, then boot from that drive. if the problems persist it's a hardware issue with the g5.

nuendo does exactly this. it's called retrospective record and it works with audio and midi. it's pretty neat.

we run a virtual private server (vps) via the excellent knownhost.com

as well as our web and email stuff this also allows us to create as many ftp accounts as we need (currently around 150) each...

the codec at both ends needs to b set to dual mono. and make sure the t/c levels aren't too high.

we do this quite a bit and have never had any issues as long as these two factors were taken into...

this is probably totally unrelated but we get this occasionally if we have lot of activity on our third display (which is driven by a pci card as opposed to the agp card which drives the other two)....
