Tri-Level Sync coming?

Hello Digi folk,

Any chance that there is an upgrade to the Sync I/O to allow Tri-Level Sync on the way?

Just last night I needed that function: I was recording a field piece for air next...

Re: File Size Limits

Right, but I'm not worried about a 4 Gig file not fitting into a session, I'm more concerned that a 2 Gb limit means 2 Hrs for 96/24, and 1 hour for 192/24. I've not had a client ask for 192 yet,...

File Size Limits

Has anyone else noticed that ProTools _still_ has a 2Gb file size limit? It's not a problem that many people come up with, but I just experienced it while recording a concert the other night. At...

Re: O.T. Glyph Firewire doesn\'t unmount

This may well have something to do with the difference between the IBM & Western Dig mechanisms. Most likely, Glyph had tuned the Firmware in the bridgeboard to work with their drives only, and so...

Re: C24 Stuck Fader

Even simpler, call Digi, I'm sure they'll have you replace the fader. It's no big deal, motor faders sometimes break. I've already replaced one and my surface is less than a year. Mine was free...

Re: scsi hotswap under OSX?

Not always, I for one have never had the drive show up in Drive Setup. Perhaps it's peculiar to my rig...

What is really annoying is that if ProTools is open, I have to unmount the drive from the...

Re: PT6 and Xerver RAID - striped storage at all?

While it's not supported, it could work well.

In the past, Digi Hardware _really_ liked SCSI, because it was designed for the particulars of that medium. As time went on, the software became...

Re: Quite possibly the stupidest question ever asked on the DUC

I agree with the dual choice.

Consider form factor - a 42" screen is huge, and flat, whereas 2 20" are more adjustable so you can scan around.

They also play nicer with your nearfields...

Re: PT 6.x MIDI I/O, MTS and USB cable length.

Not knowing much about these repeater cables, it should work. A repeater such as that won't care what is coming down the pipe, it just boosts it and passes it along.

That being said, if these are...

Re: Why is Administrator access required in OS X versions?!?!

Actually, and don't quote me on this (I'm not a Sr. UNIX Admin). I believe the Admin access has more to do with the way it interacts with Hardware. As we all remember in OS9 (remember back then?)...

Re: OT: extending Firewire

Have to agree with the Orange Micro repeaters. I have the exact same situation and they work like a series of champs. Also they come with 15' cables, so don't buy extras (like I did).

David...

Re: HELP! 25-pin digital cable type on 192?

Eep, don't plug that in!

TDIF cables are quite specific as to what pins are connected to what. They're not even similar to AES, even though both designations are following Tascam's lead.

What...

Re: EQing Monitors?

One other thought that hasn't been brought up is that the Tannoys are different boxes, sitting in a different place, with a different size/position driver. Some of the differences that you are...

Re: Video+DA98+PTHD Sync Questions

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have Blackburst going to both PT and The DA98, and both are set to video ref? This would make them rather close, but could cause problems, as their Digital clocks...

Re: Pro Tools 6.0.1 Updates & Core Audio for OS X

Hey,

Anyone actually figure out the whole "1 application at a time" limit? Is that 1 core audio app, or 1 audio app (including ProTools) - In laymans terms, can be in ProTools, background it,...

Re: SCSI128 Setting for both OS9 & OSX

The issue isn't OS9 or OSX, it's about Mix or HD. Mix systems required the settings that you mentioned, but HD allows almost all settings. The default on the card works great in either OS, as long...

Re: SCSI vs Firewire

Oh boy, the eternal drive debate.

If money was no object, you'd all buy 15k U160 drives and hook it up to your HD system and love it. That is the fastest system for ProTools at this time.

Re: ANYONE HAVE AN OPINION ON THE BEST WORDCLOCK CABLE

Have to agree with Lee, there are many great cables that cost just a fraction of the Apogee and higher priced solutions. Canare is great, and there are plenty of Belden solutions out there as well....

Re: Audible click track without using external MIDI?

That bombfactory plugin seems like the most simple and straightfoward way to generate a click onboard. Too bad they charge $99 for a product that should cost $30.

Personally, I've used Soft...

Re: HD Users, How\'s your Hard Drive/Track Count Doing?

I played with an HD3 a while ago trying to make it jump or give me evil errors. I recorded 64 tracks of 96K (the limit as I recall) onto 1 15k U160 Cheetah. It didn't even blink - the disk access...

Re: G4/Gefen USB extension issue

Hey,

Have to say, I think your problem is with the Gefen itself. I'm not sure if the same problem exists with CAT5 extenders, but the old TSE line (using ADB extensions) had problems when you...

Re: pt 5.1 and waves 3.0 won\'t work

Even if you register, you may see two challenge screens - of which you just...

Re: Drives on both sides of 2940UW?

Yes, you can.

Things to remember: Terminate, Terminate, Terminate.

I believe there was a cable with an active terminator packaged with the card, so use that. Also, there are three...
