Found the culprit:
T-RackS 5 on a stereo track (not master..)
When removed, export speed (on an HD system) went from 3x with a massive lag at the end of the render, to about 60x and no lag.

We recently updated one of our systems and have been experiencing this too.

This is what we have running on that machine if anyone has any suggestions:
- Mac Pro 2012 Xeon 24GB RAM, OSX Sierra...

Found the same thing.
Need to quit it before it has a chance to crash (turn red).

I also kill off anything 'Avid' in my Activity Monitor before I even start.
