Re: Delay with busses

Not if you always use direct, then it works like expected.
If you record non-direct streams then the recordings are in time with dce,
so that recorded (frozen) busses are phase consistent with the...

Re: Delay with busses

As you increase mixer delay past the original compensation for the direct input, those with be off by that delay as they are not set back.
therefor adding a aux that delays the mixer is going to...

Re: Delay with busses

That is what one of my previous pics showed, as long as you re-record that direct track, it's all in phase. Just send the output of the direct track to another recording track. I mentioned it in the...

Re: Delay with busses

The problem with changing it is complexity of the mixing engine.
There has always been alot of users recording stems/busses, in fact it's part of established transfer protocols.
If you start...

Re: Delay with busses

I actually couldn't sleep because I realized that using external sources
wouldn't show this as well as the playbacktracks you guys are using.

PT is compensating on the direct for the entire ad/da...

Re: Delay with busses

Shan, you did not say specifically if you had tried without compensate off,
did off work? cause my data says just the first record pass is off.

Re: Delay with busses

Ah, call it noise, but the workaround seemed quite easy and I guess if you don't
understand why things lining up realtime aren't important, then that's like saying you're workflow is bad so it's not...

Re: Delay with busses

Here is another interesting aspect...
Only the first recorded channel is "Setback"
The rest are aligned.
I took the routed output post aux and post recorded track and sent
the outputs to tracks,...

Re: Delay with busses

The conversation only turned to the fact that it's only recorded audio that is
offset AFTER I proved the NULL, so to insinuate I am arguring about something completely different is just silly....

Re: Delay with busses

Thanks dankin.
You've proved there is no realtime delay and jason agree's.
Nice to see he finally does.
and you're right, I went through the master fader and had no differences.
Went on to I/O...

Re: Delay with busses

Also, FWIW:
If I remove in the I/O window the "buss" attached to my default I/O
then cmp delay goes away on the aux.
This makes no realtime difference in the NULLING, but since I'm
not having the...

Re: Delay with busses

So, obviously you just wanted to argue and never bothered to test it.
If you look at my screenshot, I get 0 delay and 100% NULL realtime.
Again, if you reference my last post and do the routing...

Re: Delay with busses

This is precisely why I was making destinction between realtime-routing phase issues and the setback. Because it would concern people using outboard gear and all other functions.

So, since it now...

Re: Delay with busses

And since there is no realtime delay with busses, like I said, I'm not really interested anymore. I also don't care if you guys think I am just arguing, the
facts are I've been right about what I...

Re: Delay with busses

I did minic it and got different results. I screenshoted them too.
But you have a MAC and so that's concerning.

Since I pointed out #1,#2, #3 first and different results for #4
It's nice to see that instead of being accused of not understanding it's

Re: Delay with busses

Not to mention, but I've tried it with the plugs for phase and just get 2x louder audio and the recordings still line up.. So..
I'd say we list platforms has anyone with a MAC running OSX reported...

is one that is offset. -- Also judging by the...

Re: Delay with busses

their realtime audio is DELAYED.

And I'm sure it's annoying after you realized that you're audio nulled, where's the I...

Also, i've purposedly not used protools to provide the source, it isn't that hard?
Have you not tried that? why can't you play it out of app B, rather than explaining the obvious thing about...

Re: Delay with busses

Well, first of al you'll need to use recorded pink or white noise instead of 1k tones to hear the zipper noise. Second, you avoided the answer of whether or not the two outputs were in correct time...

Re: Delay with busses

#1. I got different recorded results. But identical tracking results and I think we will find everybody has identical tracking results.

#2. The only thing I don't...

having a issue during playback, ei, the track is not being adjusted...

Re: Delay with busses

Yeah, I said earlier it was a display thing, I said that TDM bussing had delay but was compensated for, etc. Yeah, I said all this and I got the hogwash response.
And yeah, it's cause people aren't...
