Re: Hyperthreading in 2020?

Agreed. Works well for me; I've tried both ways.

Re: 2020.9 stability...

Maybe you should reinstall them, or reinstall PT I have both RX7 and RX8; both are very stable.

Re: 2020.9 stability...

Vanilla on Windows seems solid. On two occasions I noticed a halt of about 4 seconds during rapid editing, as if PT had to catch its breath. CPU meter was around 30%. Has anyone else had this?
I've...

Re: 2020.9!

No commit? That is serious. I used it for only a day on a new project and rolled back because of the track count thing, so I can't say I tested it properly. Can't Avid add just add features without...

Re: Playlist edit bug still not fixed 2 years later

Don't know which bug you are referring to, but it would surely be great to be able to control main track vs playlist width independently. I think it was like that from the beginning?

Re: ARA: They really just don't know how to do this, do they.

I tried Reaper about 10 years ago, for hosting VI's while using PT. If I remember well, that was around when AAX happened and our good old trusty VST wrapper was withdrawn. Can't talk about now, but...

Re: Voices reduced from 64 stereo to 32 stereo tracks in 2020.9

Actually I do like the splash screen; I think it's very modern, and the colours match the consoles. But if halving our track count is the price to pay for it, then it's absolutely got to go! :D

Re: Voices reduced from 64 stereo to 32 stereo tracks in 2020.9

The resolution of this issue will determine whether or not I update in December or stop at 2020.5. This would be unacceptable if it's intentional, and for now, I prefer to think it's a bug that will...

Re: Who cares about auto record disable - just give us auto playlist creation instead

Unless I'm totally mistaken, this is just restored former functionality.

Re: Voices reduced from 64 stereo to 32 stereo tracks in 2020.9

Makes sense, though. Halving the track count cannot be intentional. Or is it???

Re: Voices reduced from 64 stereo to 32 stereo tracks in 2020.9

According to Pro Tools Expert, Avid is working on an update to correct this. The advice is to hold on and not update just yet.

Re: Voices reduced from 64 stereo to 32 stereo tracks in 2020.9

Hi, may I ask which projects specifically you are referring to? Created in which version, sample rate etc? I haven't opened any older projects since I updated. Thanks.

Re: Latch Record fixed!

Well done, jeffro and Avid! We could do with more of the same, as I mentioned in another thread; a whole new release only addressing long-time PT bugs, instabilities and such. This would be highly...

Re: Voices reduced from 64 stereo to 32 stereo tracks in 2020.9

Not too sure if we are talking about the same thing or if something else has changed, but I'm using PT vanilla 2020.9 on Windows 10. I just checked, and the System Usage window (under Resources)...

Re: 2020.9!

A whole new release should be dedicated to bug-fixes. No new features. Just make sure EVERYTHING works as expected. All the broken stuff. All the things that have not worked properly in PT for the...

Re: 33 day countdown! Time to stick?

+1, Tom. S1 has long attracted me with many of its easy drag and drop features, but I'm still 'here"! Maybe it's the long years of familiarity. Even if certain things aren't entirely up to scratch...

Re: Sidelined by CPU Problem on 32GB Mac

+1. I've been using VE Pro for a few years now on the same computer as PT. There's a world of difference there, but I'm now running VEP7 on a second networked computer...unbelievable performance....

Re: Freeze'd audio files??

Hey teacherman.

Committing is like bouncing, while freezing is more like a temporary measure to help you continue working with less CPU usage, especially if you are using lots of hungry...

Re: Will PT202x have Midi 2.0?

I've used MIDI since '85, and it's still a very important part of my workflow. Pro Tools MIDI has come a long way from, say 10 years ago, though there are still issues to be solved. As much as I look...

Re: Auto List of Incompatible Plugins

20 solid years! That's Avid for you bro. They just don't seem to care about basic necessities. Every other Daw has had it forever. In a few years, if we are lucky, It'll be implemented and touted as...

Re: Worth using 2020.5 over 2019.5? Opinion.

I guess I spoke too soon! Despite the low CPU usage there were still glitches in Pro Q3 (this never used to happen, and makes me feel it's caused by something else) and PT just crashed....
