I have never see that sentence but I believe it is possible that that OMF file contains sound files of diferent bit depth.
I mean, OMF can contain files of 16 and 24 bits into itselve....

To avoid the 4 GB WAV limit you can choose CoreAudio format into TimeFactoy 2 instead of WAV.
ProTools can import from interleaved CoreAudio files interleaved to WAV without any problem....

I believe that the guilt could be a mix of audio formats.
Ask the editor if he/she could check if everything is in the very same bit depth, and sample rate and no mp3 or 32 bits stuff are there....

ProTools will play at the same speed always (for us, France and Argentine, where we don't use pull down or pull up). So, PT will play 48000 samples per second. Does not matter is the project is 24fps...

If you have changed the frame rate of the original QuickTime movie with QuickTime Pro application (or any other app that use the resources of QuickTime) you have changed the amount of frames...
