Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

In percentage or dollar? If something costs 5k and another costs 50k, if you sell it for 20% loss then I'd say 7,1 loses more money.

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

At this point any sane company would get the 7,1 that gets you through the transition. Buy a next gen chip laptop for testing purposes, but when you have a paying client coming in you dont want to...

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

Yes, the HDX cards should require PCIe 2.0 x4 and HDN card should work with PCIe 2.0 x1 -- note that HDX does not necessarily use all that x4 throughput available, but that x1 is not enough.

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

If you have one working card now as unsupported, be happy about it and wait for 2020.x that supposedly should bless the 2019 towers.

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

For troubleshooting, try only installing one card in different slots and see if you get it working to begin with. I'm sure build that supports 2019 MP is right around the corner but obviously you...

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

I would keep it in one APFS container to get full speed for everything. As you may or may not know, with APFS if you have 4TB physical storage you do not need to limit yourself to hard-partition it...

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

If I was buying a new Mac now, I would invest in as big an internal SSD as I could afford. So darn much hassle upgrading it later.

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

The rail is in three pieces so I would be very surprised if it cannot fit sub-24" rack

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

Well I wouldn't know but if that is the case then you absolutely need to buy rack as per Apple specification. FWIW, every single rack installation I have made have had adjustable rack rails. Would be...

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

No, but I cannot see a problem -- it is only 1cm over and rack back door usually has few cm extra space you can use (though probably need to remove cables when closing the door)

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

Zero. HDX card comes with power cable for both Mac and PC. If the new MP has different connector HDX box will likely have that too once it is supported.
