Re: ProTools 9 & UAD working together
Agreed but I need a more reliable solution whether its PT or UA's fault. At the end of the day I need to get work done. I write music for the media so time is tight and I can't deal with this. All my...

Re: ProTools 9 & UAD working together
I'm having issues with two uad-1 cards installed on my PC. If I use Ableton Live, everything's fine. In PT, things are different. If I instantiate two or three uad plugins on the same track, it all...

You can also add Ableton Live to the list. I've accepted the fact of getting another computer to run VIs in standalone mode, especially when I use VSL.
Welcome to the future :D

Re: Digi-Why was tiger better then Leo using all cores?
+1 on studiom's solution. I prefer bidule in rewire mode as I don't use as many VIs as someone here. It's amazing that I can actually use Kontakt RELIABLY as a VST plug in bidule.
I think Digi...

Qdea Synchronize! is what I use. I'm still on Tiger though so I have no idea whether time machine in Leopard gives you the same type of functionality as synchronize does.

Re: LE + Mac Pro - OR - HD system?
A firewire interface (002, 003) will have higher latency than an HD system. If your priority is lowest latency, especially if you setup cue mixes and such, HD is the clear winner. But from your post,...

From what I've seen from the video, you can do all of that and more in Ableton Live with creative routing and plugin combinations except for the scratching thing and the fact that Live has a bit...

Re: TDM Plug In Distortion compared to RTAS
Sorry Oli P, wrong post. You may want to read ch. 4 where it explains the approach of a fixed (integers) and a floating point (real numbers) system. Despite being old, there are some valid principles...

Re: TDM Plug In Distortion compared to RTAS
That's the main advantage of floating point versus fixed point. In fact, clipping is much easier to reach on any fixed-point solution. If you want to know exactly what happens, this link shows you...

Time to switch to Nuendo 4, it even has a feature to avoid feedback due to improper routing.

Anybody using UAD-1 w/ Magma chassis?
I' ve come to liken the UAD-1 plugins more these days. Maybe I never appreciated them well enough because of all the issues related to running UAD-1 in PT. Anybody mixing exclusively with multiple...

Re: CD Authoring Software
If you have the cash, get Premaster CD 2 by Sonic Studio ($495). It has the same audio engine of soundBLADE so it sounds amazing. Otherwise, Jam or Peak will do it.

Re: TDM Plug In Distortion compared to RTAS
There is no DSP chip from Motorola (56000 series) or Analog Devices (Tiger SHARC) that can perform internally at 64 bits and I doubt Digi has a secret plant making 64-bit DSP chips. So I would say...

Re: What is the best synth or samples for tuned 808\'s?
Get a Jomox Mbase 01. It's real analog and anything coming out of that box just sounds huge. If you feel more adventurous, you could get a Nord G2 modular which has a dedicated module for creating...

I have a Nord G2X which I slaved to PT. Then, I drew two quarter notes of different pitch on a midi track. I...

Re: Made the Jump to HD 2 - Huge sound difference (in my studio)
Thanks nikki-k, great post indeed. I just checked the specs on the new TigerSHARC and it has an 80-bit accumulator. That's much more than on the 56K. Yet, as you said, if the algorithm isn't...

Re: Made the Jump to HD 2 - Huge sound difference (in my studio)
Do you mind explaining the inherent issues? For what I know, Dr. Moore was comparing the Motorola 56K (48-bit fixed point) to the Analog Devices SHARC (32-bit floating point). In early 2000, the 56K...

Re: Made the Jump to HD 2 - Huge sound difference (in my stu
The difference between 48-fixed and 32-float is none in terms of audio quality. It is simply a different way of counting numbers. In fact, Pyramix uses Philips's 32-bit float DSP chips but it is used...
