Re: Field Recorder Channel Names

Could it be where channels are skipped on field recorder?

eg Wav shows A1 MixL A2 MixR A4 Boom A7 Sally A8 Don

Imports to Avid as A1-A5

Might explain why it is different on different days...

Re: AAF import stereo issue

Reread this, as I'm back troubleshooting AAF.

I exported Prem Pro AAF and imported back into PP and anything other than mono clips does indeed double up the first track - so LL instead of LR.

Re: TC metadata??

The 'edit protocol' was something to do with >2Gb files I think - not sure what would reset start TC to zero.

Re: AAF import stereo issue

The multicam issue is where the multicams are built incorrectly in premiere (it's easy to do wrong). Everything sounds fine in the edit but on export to AAF (where PP flattens to the constituent...

Re: AAF import stereo issue

I think Adobe did quite a bit of work on this. Other than multicams, that were built wrong by an assistant, I've not had reports back from ProTools folks about AAFs for a few years.

If your PP...

Re: AAF import stereo issue

https://m.facebook.com/groups/adobepremierepro/permalink/5972661552795414/ - unclear if related but this chap has some stereo timeline clips appearing as dual mono in pro tools.

Re: Media Composer 2022.12 Exports Pro Tools Sessions

Shame to hear that Andrew.

Seems ridiculous that those most likely to try this new workflow out (long time 'small fry' Avid perpetual owners) are not permitted access to it.

Short sighted...

Re: Media Composer 2022.12 Exports Pro Tools Sessions

https://youtu.be/OOynReRi0NM - jump to 5.26 for this new feature demonstrated on MC. Looks good, especially the marker integration.

Re: AAF back and foward - Premiere Pro

The 'void' is likely to be badly formed multicam sequences in Premiere Pro. They sound ok in the timeline but, in the process of making the AAF they are 'flattened' to constituent clips - which can...

Re: AAF back and foward - Premiere Pro

Unlikely to work straight away (even AAF PT->MC can be problematic). Might work via Resolve? (IE open AAF in Resolve and export an XML).

Reach out to Adobe for guidance? It's a bit niche but it...

Re: shortcut: to original time stamp?

Thought it might be - still a couple more steps cos you have to overwrite the 'autosequence' timeline to your edit timeline.

So (if you had MC available) you could AutoSequence in MC then send a...

Re: shortcut: to original time stamp?

Picture editor here - can you explain the two clicks on MC please? ('AutoSpot' is not something I need to do much - I'm guessing it's probably AutoSequence or maybe group clips then overwrite, but...

Re: Avid exported AAF out of Sync

Good work.

A fix to PT or MC, do you know?

Re: How to help dubbing mixer do A/B switching from edit

This is 100% correct. It's an experiment that likely won't work but has helped my understanding of side chaining - which would be a great help for temp mixes at the picture edit stage (auto duck FX +...

Re: How to help dubbing mixer do A/B switching from edit

Checkerboard would be a nightmare - cos there's edits + level changes across where the transitions occur.

Markers are a great idea - do duration markers work from Premiere to ProTools?

Re: How to help dubbing mixer do A/B switching from edit

Simple AAF (https://www.dropbox.com/s/jt6a0ckfejl9v9m/PP_AB_SIDECHAIN_AAF%20TEST.zip?dl=0) example - the tone tracks are the duckers - one attenuates FX A (clean) the other attenuates FX B ('in the...

Re: How to help dubbing mixer do A/B switching from edit

Mainly think of it as a science project.

I. Can tone on two tracks drive compressors/gates via side chaining in ProTools such that the busses are muted when tone is on the respective sidechain...

Re: Avid MC editor setting up for ProTools and Mix

How to help dubbing mixer do A/B switching from edit

Looking for the best way to make the mixers life easier

Budget is very tight so plan is for mix to mostly be the edit stems, with a bit of improvement as time allows. TBH if budget gets much...

Re: Poly BWF metadata not translating in Premiere

Re: Poly BWF metadata not translating in Premiere

PP is crap for this, but the metadata should be there, in window | metadata (*not* in bin or timeline)

Image of metadata twirldown required (might be under bwf rather than ixml on later versions):...

No idea how PT records but surely it can reference that TC in the wav files (the audio LTC is just the means of TC distribution, used to have to be...

Re: Audio Timecode with protools, syncing with video

Actually, in PP, you could use 2x adaptive tracks (they go up to 32 per track I think) for the isos - would be pretty easy to keep those along for the ride, they wouldn't even need to listen to them....
