Re: Bets on when Pro Tools will become compatible with Snow Leopard...

PT 8 works for me. it loads, plays back audio, etc.

what is weird is that my DIGI 003 is not recognized by my Mac Pro so I can't actually hear any movies play in quicktime. Audio on the internet...

Re: Computer won't see Digi 003 with Snow Leopard?

well, I am noticing that the computer does not recognize my audio interface (digi 003). I am on a Mac. If I go to system preferences, it's just not even listed.

Now, if I open a program like say,...

Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

yeah, I pretty much blame the iMac right about now. I am working on getting a power mac so I can install extra firewire cards, consider pro tools HD, etc. the iMac's are nice, but I don't feel they...

Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

thanks for the bit on chipsets!

Yes, the 400 worked, but only if I daisy chain it through the Digi 003. This is still odd, because essentially I a still sharing the firewire bus...just in a...

Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

I have never had any luck with 800 to be honest. not even on my powerbook. thing to keep in mind is that if you have a computer with 1 400 and 1 800, they are really sharing the same bus internally. ...

Re: Firewire 400 vs 800

I am actually quite impressed with the 400 speed. It's the 800 that I seem to have bad luck with. I know it is supposed to be better and faster, but experience gives me instability.

ESATA is very...

Arrow Firewire 400 vs 800

anyone have any thoughts on whether the 800 is really better? It seems 400 works like a champ in most cases where 800 can be unstable.

thoughts?

Thumbs up Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

I did what you said and I daisy chained the glyph into the Digi 003 with the Digi 003 connected directly to the computer. and guess what?

it worked. I just completed a 70 minute record session and...

Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

No I am not striping the session. I am only working with one partition. Each partition has separate purpose. but a good thought and something to keep in mind if I ever DO have samples spread out.

Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

I partitioned into 5 parts because I learned that DIGI prefers hard drives not over 100 gigs for maximum performance. While they say this has been fixed, I know guys that still feel it is better and...

Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

well, i just tried recording with the glyph GT050Q and after 26 minutes, it stopped recording. 256 or H/W buffer. 1 CPU. 85 %

I think we have ruled out a hard drive issue. what can you suggest? I...

Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

I am not using any plug ins when I record. no inserts, sends & returns, etc. The only plug ins I really have are those on my iLok license.

for CPU, I always set it to 1.

just bought a glyph....

Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

At first I had it set to use all available space, then I changed it to 70 minutes. When I made that change, I got the 31 minute recording.

I am recording at 44.1, 24 bit

When pro tools freezes...

Arrow Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

Are lacie drives compatible with Pro Tools? I have the LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Disk partitioned into 5 parts and the longest recording I can get is a whopping 31 minutes. Do I need to get rid of this...
