Re: Elastic Audio and Trashing Prefs

This is another reason why EA is in desperate need for an overhaul. The analysis markers thing was good in theory but can put unnecessary lumps all over the place on the audio. (I also remove all...

Re: File ID weirdness

Thanks Pete. Another one of those “occasional/ will never be able to pin down” bugs I guess.

Re: Elastic Audio and Trashing Prefs

I've had different issues with elastic audio but the cure was the same as yours - trashing preferences. Seems bizarre that that whole section of EA can go easily awry with a corrupted pref file. And...

File ID weirdness

Recently when I "save a session copy", I occasionally get a file on the new session where the file ID isn't matched.

E.g.http://duc.avid.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=11980&stc=1&d=1565095254

Re: Import session data Creates ranodom automation

Yes and also really annoying when you hit "alt-a" to view the entire session and it ends up being tiny and squashed up because of one random automation point you can't quite locate as it's somewhere...

Re: Spelling mistake

Well, to be honest, it was a bit of a wrong-key hit on my part, as I couldn't remember the correct set of key combinations for "snap to previous". Nevertheless, if you want to see the spelling...

Re: Import session data Creates ranodom automation

Yeah it's been like this forever. I duplicate the offending track(s), making sure to de-select the "automation" tick box in "data to duplicate"; delete the original track; get rid of the "dup1"...

Re: New track naming

But having to use import session data kind of makes m a mockery of the whole concept of track presets, doesn’t it?

Re: Why doesn't ProTools have its own built-in sample player?

I thought it was 3rd party? https://www.airmusictech.com/product/structure-2#.XS2_ci2ZN24

Either way it's dreadful. I can't see an easy way of, say, throwing a home made kick drum sample in there....

Why doesn't ProTools have its own built-in sample player?

Yeah yeah I know all music is effectively "samples" now, but seriously - why can I not just throw a sample into a player and play it on a keyboard, without using 3rd party software? Seems such a...

Re: Side chain delay compensation

Also agree. Pretty much unusable in its current state without resorting to freezing plugins with higher latency values.

Re: Bounce skips the first milliseconds

Just bounced out a whole album’s worth of stems, no issues. Screenshot or some sort of description of exactly what you’re doing might help.

Re: To HEAT or not to HEAT?

And how do you find HEAT? Or is this just a “I’m a better engineer than you lot” statement?

Re: To HEAT or not to HEAT?

I find this interesting (as someone who's never got on with it). Presumably you have the knobs on their minimal settings too?

Re: To HEAT or not to HEAT?

Ooh now then, I wonder if anyone will put their head above the parapet for this? Sparks will fly. Might need to get some popcorn.

Re: To HEAT or not to HEAT?

So you end up with non-heated vocals with everything else heated? Kind of whacks the finely tuned balances out, no? Or maybe you're running Heat from the get-go on everything except the vocals? Still...

Re: To HEAT or not to HEAT?

So how do you guys get round Melodyne running? Do you run HEAT into Melodyne? Or do you end up having to print Melodyne? I was just trying it out (again) and ended up swearing at it (again).

Tech Question re : mix tweaks

Anyone know if the tech exists yet for me to do mix tweaks here in the UK that an artist in (say) the US can hear in real time?

I've been doing remote mixing for many years: uploading a first...
