Re: Confused re Subscription and New Licenses

Thanks for the quick reply!! I guess that must be what happened, wish I’d caught that sooner. So here’s my next question, per the language in the attached screenshot, active Pro Tools subscribers are...

Confused re Subscription and New Licenses

Hello all, been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve got a question regarding my Pro Tools plan.

Looking at the My Avid section, I have an entry for just Pro Tools, which is current and being paid...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5

Question for you on hyperthreading. How much of a performance drop in terms of plugin counts etc do you notice with it off?

Re: HEAT Master Controls not visible.[SOLVED]

Oh cool! Been long enough since I’ve used heat to see if I prefer it over other tape sims. Fun to rediscover interesting things :)

I’m just returning to the pro tools world, is HEAT still HD only?

Re: Error on First Open

It’s a shame that it’s 2020 and on the Windows side, we still don’t have an OS provided low latency audio framework. I assume the students with the issue it was on a PC, since the Macs built in audio...

Re: Error on First Open

Turned out to have to do with audio hardware, I was just checking it post install to make sure it started properly. Connected audio interface, held down N to select it, and was good to go.

seems...

Re: Best GATE plugin?

I agree with the poster above, never had an easier to use gate than the one built into Slate’s Trigger. I’ve asked them multiple times to break it out into a Virtual Mix Rack module, hasn’t happened...

Re: "Low-latency Domain" vs. "High-latency Domain"

Good luck getting anyone from Avid to clarify this. I’ve asked for almost two years now for an exact and clear explanation, and all that’s happened is that the feature isn’t advertised anymore. I’ve...

Re: PT's dual low latency buffer, 110 instances of Kontakt 'n stuff.

This is a screenshot from April 2013. Nothing mentions anything about dual buffers being an HD only thing or having any limitations, unlike the metering below.

Re: PT's dual low latency buffer, 110 instances of Kontakt 'n stuff.

So nominally speaking, I think the feature should work on VI tracks, sort of. Again, assuming no auxes or other routing, a VI track in playback mode should go to the high latency domain, which should...

Re: PT's dual low latency buffer, 110 instances of Kontakt 'n stuff.

At least that's what I've found after questioning and researching this feature, and results seem to bear it out.

Re: PT's dual low latency buffer, 110 instances of Kontakt 'n stuff.

So this "feature" has gradually been removed from Avid's marketing materials, and they are less and less willing to discuss. Because it's fundamentally broken and misleading.

So if you look the...

Re: Fix Side Chain Delay Compensation NOW please!

Honestly, to have the HDX hardware calculating that delay comp would be a waste of the the precious few resources those cards have for something that a general purpose CPU, which is already doing the...

Re: So here's an odd one... identical systems performing differently

Yes, I have encountered many instances of identical hardware not acting the same way. If the two are acting differently, they aren't identical. Since the hardware is the same, the software must not...

Re: So here's an odd one... identical systems performing differently

The only way the two machines are "identical" is if you clone your startup volume from one onto the other. As soon as software versions (OS, PT, plugs) are different versions, as soon as directory...

Not sure with Pro Tools 9, but overall I have to disagree with the Windows 10 hate. I held off until the last possible day, when a Pro Tools/iLok issue necessitated a reinstall. Instead of...

Re: friend has an IMac i7 with fusion drive, is he SOL?

Technically yes, the hard drive and SSD could be swapped out for different parts. Neither are soldered to anything, and the 21.5" iMacs up until the 2014 model technically CAN have the RAM upgraded,...
