Re: Is it any good? Do you like it?

I have just switched from a Motormix setup and so far, I believe the Motormix has more to offer. I guess I just need to get used to the Command8.

Re: Hows this for a set up?

Doesn't the Octopre use ADAT? MBox does not have a lightpipe connector. I suggest an 002 or 002R. I use an 002R with a Digimax96 and the Command8. Great portable setup with 18 I/Os.

Re: Help--can\'t get my new Command8 working

What computer are you using? Is the USB light on on the Command8? Did you look under the "Midi Controllers" tab?

Re: Digi 002 and Powerbook advice...Please.

The software is the same but the mBox doesn't support 96k sessions and the 002's pres are much better. I did the oo2r with my powerbook because I use multiple MotorMixes.

Re: iMac G5 for friend - about to buy, but fan issues?

I had to replace the midplane of my iMac G5 because of the fan noise. The new fan had a different design and solved the problem. The replacement was pretty easy but I am comfortable ripping things...

Re: The new “Standard” CPU specific test for PTLE

Re: OS 10.3.3 and ProTools LE 6.2.3

I'd start with 6 and do the update. Not sure if 6.2.3 is complete but I have a similar machine that works great with 10.3.3 and 6.2.3. I went the update route and all is well. The whole process...

Re: classic on g5

Let go....OSX is worlds better than OS9. I had problems with it at first but once I got a feel for it I dumped OS9 completely. Strangely enough, my mother-in-law and sister took to OSX immediately...

Re: Installing Pro Tools on a new iBook G4

It worked fine for me last week. I installed 6 and installed the upgrades before I ran the program. Now 6.2.3 is running fine on my 14" iBook G4 with 1156 Megs of RAM.

Re: PC VS Mac for Pro Tools

OK, here is my $0.02. I use both. In fact, my REAL job is IT manager for an engineering firm with offices in three states. On a dailey basis I deal with Linux (3), Mac (5) and PC (150±). I have a...

Re: digi 001 betrayal

Bravo!!!! Excellent post. I agree. I had the 001 and it was (and is) great. I decided to go to the 002R and I am thrilled with it. Is it the best thing out there? No. Is it better than the...

Re: What Mac would you get if you\'re in my shoes?

FYI, you can get 1152 MBs of RAM in a iBook G4. There is also a great screen hack to allow screen spanning (not just mirroring). This 14" iBook is a great computer for the price. I have an 002R on...

Re: stupid apple 17 display...

Sounds like a resolution problem. Your 17" is set at a higher resolution than your old monitor. Digi sets the max size for their windows. Try lowering the resolution on the 17 and you should get...

Re: Why not a Firewire or USB 2.0 Mbox??

Are people really having a problem with their MBoxes. USB 1.1 has more than enough bandwidth to easily max MBox. I believe it comes down to market segmenting. Would Digidesign make more money if...

Re: will this work?

Personally, I have experienced a much better ride with 4GBs compared to 2.5GBs. Plugs seem the same but the system seems more responsive with the 4GBs. I am going to kick it up to 8GBs but that is...

Re: Remote Recording

I've heard that but I have never had a problem. It doesn't get hot (any hotter than as an MP3/AAC player) and seems to keep going. If the project was critical I probably wouldn't use this setup but...

Re: Remote Recording

iBook G4, MBox & an iPod. Works great for low track count live recording and it can be totally free of power cords.

Re: Driverack Studio

I use it and love it. Make sure you have a good set of monitors (I use Reveal Actives) and a good section controller and you'll love the Driverack. I liked it enough to use the Driverack PA live.

Re: How many G5 users are NOT having audio problem

No problems on my G5 2X2 and 002R. Sounds great with my DigiRack Studio and Reveal Actives. If there are sound problems on my machine, I should be able to hear them with this setup.

Re: Is it just my computer?

Are you recording onto your startup or application drive? Sounds to me like you are. Try an external drive or separate internal drive to record/edit on.
