G3400 9.2.1 Mix core + 3 farms. PT 5.1.1

Core - 1622
Farm1 - adat/24
Farm2 - 882/20

Hardware inserts fader 0 but still sound???

When I have a track with a hardware insert ie outbaord eq when I mute that track or pull the fader all the way down I still get sound - is this normal behaiviour???
