Just an update to this thread in the event of someone else following it one day.....The motherboard with the 915 Chipset was replaced and Pro Tools is running sweetly...Thanks to all who posted.

Thanks for that...... I did find the relevant knowledgebase article re the 915 chipset...but did not search for any relevant threads...I will do that, learn a bit and then get the MB/Chipset replaced.

An update here for the benefit of those who helped and any others following this thread.....
The new USB card was fitted...I trashed pref and databases...plugged in the MBox..let it find drivers...

Thanks for the advice.... PC may be a bit barebones...however a definite upgrade from what was successfully running the MBox since purchase as new when they were first released.....and damn...

You will see the 'A' and 'V' columns (Audio and Video) with R, T or P for each drive....click mouse on the column for each drive and set as desired....Record(R)...

Alternatively...you could temporarily transfer as much of the data on your external drive to your computer's drive(s) as available space allows.....or 'borrow' another external drive to save...

A follow up with this for anyone elses benefit.....
It appears to be an issue with Ver6 sessions only.....once the sessions are saved as ver7 all's well....obviously to do with the upgraded TCE in...

We have the same situation with a new workstation setup with PT 7.3LE installed from new...

Not really worrying about it...
No contest re sounds when compared to Reason SE and Sampletank SE, anyway....just convenience and saving of CPU power.

Unlike audio tracks, when you create Aux tracks the default fader setting is -infinity.....or 'off'

My midi requirements in PT are very basic....just midifiles through the Windows GS Wavetable...
However, I can't seem to get that option available in the pre-defined outputs of a miditrack in Ver7. ...

Yeah, as it seems to be set up that way by default at work, as well as other audio programmes 'seeing' it, I'm guessing perhaps something to do with the M-Audio interface...I'll keep playing......

Thanks for that....after an hour or two of 'educating myself', I am now comfortable in the basic use of both Sampletank and Reason Adapted in playing back midifiles in Pro Tools...Need now to look at...

I guess I'm still pretty much mindset to standard ol' General Midi...a throwback to my muso days well over 10yrs ago....hence my reliance on inbuilt wavetable...
