PT First does NOT "only record to the cloud" it records to your hard drive and then can be backed up in the cloud.

Try hold down 'N' when launching.

Make sure you have an ASIO audio interface...

I guess it varies based on what you are trying to WUP of course... I wish I could post the different prices between Waves and AD, but it's prohibited. For me at least, it was literally hundreds less.

In the current version of Pro Tools, you should be able to choose 'Windows Audio Device' for your playback engine. It may or may not work well...
