Re: MacOS Sonoma

The heavy GUI lag came back with 2023.12 on 14.2.
Installed the public beta of 14.3 and now 2023.12 runs without lag again.

Re: MacOS Sonoma

2023.9 worked way better on Sonoma. 2023.12 is not advised at all if for whatever reason you are on Sonoma.

Re: MacOS Sonoma

I have two systems that are running fine on the latest Sonoma beta (except for oddly long session load times):

1. 2019 Intel Mac Pro 16 core running Sonoma 14.2 Beta 4 + PT Ultimate 2023.9...

Re: MacOS Sonoma

FWIW, running 14.2 beta 4 and the terrible GUI lag and stutter in PT seems to be gone. Now for me everything's running flawlessly, except opening sessions still seems to drag on longer than before. ...

Re: MacOS Sonoma

On a 2019 Mac Pro here running Ultimate.

Still getting a somewhat sluggish GUI. The EUControl fix did help immensely, but it's still not what I would call smooth.
Also handling h264 video...

Re: Mac Ventura Compatibility

I just upgraded my 2019 Mac Pro to 13.2.1 coming from the latest Monterey.

I have the cursor/tool issue permanently. Doesn't matter if running or stopped, as soon as I choose a tool the cursor...

Re: 2022.9- Moving Clip FX window back to top

+1 for being able to move it.
Also it would be nice if we could center it horizontally. I use a 49 inch ultrawide monitor, and having clip effects sitting to the far left is not ideal.

Just let...

Re: Video engine crashes when addl. screen is turned on

Sure, it's just a convenience thing and certainly not expected behavior.

Not a show stopper but worth mentioning as it's a bug.

Video engine crashes when addl. screen is turned on

I'm on a Mac Pro 2019 with a Radeon Pro W5700X 16GB.
I have three screens attached, two of which I use most of the time, the third one (4K TV) isn't turned on all the time.
When I do turn it on...

Re: GUI finally snappy again! Thanks, Avid!!

So any issue that you don't experience yourself is basically non existent, and has to be doubted until proven to you? Some people.

I never thought I'd see that day, but I just installed 2022.7 and did some editing for an hour or so. It's bliss. After freaking years of unbearable sluggishness that has been somewhat improved by...

Re: Protools Start/Stop Lag Comparison

I'm 100% with you on that. I guess I learnt to live with it over the years, and it was far less interrupting than the GUI lag, so the latter always had overshadowed the former.
Now with the GUI lag...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

This is on the 16 Core Mac Pro 7,1 @32ms buffer, HDN Thunderbolt.
CPU Meter jumps wildly between 55% and 98% mostly in the 70s, though.

Re: Pro Tools 2022.4 Release

Not sure what your needs are, but you can change it so actually nothing happens. Zoom level stays the same, only the track size changes.

Re: Pro Tools 2022.4 Release

You can change that behaviour in settings. I use "E" all the time. But it sucks on the standard setting for sure.

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

I didn't because initially I just wanted test those systems for my own purposes, so running one of my own sessions made the most sense. Posting the results here was an afterthought.

First of, that Mac Studio is the only one of the bunch I didn’t test myself. I sent the session to @thebeatless and he was kind enough to run it for me. So I can’t comment on the feel of that...

Re: Really ?

Maybe you could help Avid move away from constantly giving people reasons to vent. How'd that be for a change?
