Free gift from Avid: Accusonus Voice Leveler

I tried it on dialogue for a dubbed show (so VERY clean audio), and didn‘t like the results at all. It either does barely anything or, if you dial it in a little harder, it's pumping like heck. Tried...

Re: Avid Sync I\O

If signal goes to the interface but not the monitors it is a wiring/routing issue.

Re: Avid Sync I\O

If signal is showing on the 192 you're not sending signals to the outs that your monitors are connected to.

Re: Avid Sync I\O

Again, you have to activate "Generate LTC". I am 99.9% sure that's your issue.

Re: Avid Sync I\O

You have to enable LTC generate within PT. Then TC is displayed on the sync.

Re: Pro Tools as SMPTE generator

You can start wherever you like.
Just mind that there's nothing above "59" regarding hours, minutes and seconds. After that it nulls to the next hour or minute.

Re: Pro Tools as SMPTE generator

You can enter the start TC. So e.g.:

1st file: 01:00:00:00
2nd file: 02:30:00:01
3rd file: 04:00:00:02

etc.

Then import them to PT, stitch them and consolidate. That will give you a TC...

Re: Pro Tools as SMPTE generator

You could export several files from that site back to back, then stitch them together and consolidate.

A PCU test: PT Vs Reaper with pretty incredible result

It's not even been comfirmed that there is a rewrite of the playback engine, has it?
However, of course I'm sceptical given Avid's catastrophic track record with major changes. Anyone remember those...

Re: A PCU test: PT Vs Reaper with pretty incredible result

I never used a Laptop with PT. Macbooks nowadays are designer accessories with insufficient emphasis on cooling, which means they can't make good use of their CPUs. They get too hot and throttle down...

Re: A PCU test: PT Vs Reaper with pretty incredible result

I don't have performance issues because the computers I use have a lot of headroom in that regard. But it's obvious, that PT isn't optimized in a way to take advantage of modern CPUs.
I use it,...

Re: A PCU test: PT Vs Reaper with pretty incredible result

This and all other shortcomings are easily explained by the fact, that the coding staff Avid has pointed to work on Pro Tools consists of a donkey and a chimp training that donkey. This is why there...

Pro tools 2019 !

Not even close. DSP chips have their place for recording. In terms of all other processing they are basically obsolete nowadays.
What you're asking for is playing stupid games and nothing else.
If...

Re: Pro tools 2019 !

It's always been like that. Ridiculously defending those turds Avid leaves at their customer's feet. Well, that's kind of their doorstep and those guys are their loyal pups.
Even though most of them...

Re: Ryzen 32 core

Agreed. My 8700k oc'd to 5GHz smokes the iMac Pro. Offline bounce on the iMac at 4x runs at 6.5x on the 8700. Doesn't sound much but really is substantial. And the 8700 machine cost me less than 2k€...

Re: Ryzen 32 core

For PT a higher clock frequency is more important than core count, since workload distribution is based on signal paths and those are not spread across cores. I wish they would change that, but I...

Re: How is your 2018 version running?

I have this issue on several Hackintoshes as well as on an iMac Pro. This has nothing to do with the architecture of the MacPro but with baffling incompetence to fix software bugs.

Re: How is your 2018 version running?

Do you happen to use a higher resolution screen? This is a known issue, here's a quote of Avid support on that:

Hello xxx,

Thank you for contacting Avid Technical Support. Currently there is a...

Re: How is your 2018 version running?

I haven't had any stability issues upgrading throughout the 2018 iterations.
Running MacOS though.

Make Application Manager and Cloud Client Services separate installer

With every new update I need to go uninstall those pointless applications.

Re: Post engineers: does Native offer enough power for big surround sessions?

I've been running HDN since its birth (I think 2010) on a great variety of machines. Starting with cheesegrater Mac Pro (12-Core) with a PCIe card over several different Hackintoshes to now an iMac...
