Open your craziest session and start giving it hell.
Open activity monitor and have a look at what's happening in the memory columns.
I've been known to get over 32GB of RAM allocated to Pro Tools...

If you're pasting to a different automation type, look in the edit menu under "paste special" -> "to current automation type"

That is: all mixing and plugins handled by the mac but the OMNI still recognised?
