Re: Access Denied issue is getting worse...

Perhaps copy and paste your message into Word or Notepad before hitting submit reply. If it goes south, you can try again without having to re-type the message. Not a fix for the problem, but a...

Re: RIP Charlie Watts

I heard the news a few hours ago. Very sad. I saw the Stones 3 times. '78 New Orleans Superdome, '81 Dallas Texas Cotton Bowl, and Houston Astrodome - Steel Wheels tour.

Re: RIP Dusty Hill

Very sad news indeed. Dusty was a resident of my town (Houston, TX) for the last 50 years or so. I saw ZZ Top with the Rolling Stones in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, back in 1981, and have all their...

Re: Best forum or resource for high end, PT compatible audio and video computer?

Here is how I get around the latency issue when recording vocals. I use one of the aux sends on my mixer to send a dry vocal signal to my headphone distribution amp. (Furman HDX-6). If we want...

Re: Bob Dylan sells entire publishing catalogue to Universal Music

$300 Million. Not bad. I wonder how Dylan was able to retain the publishing rights when he first got a record deal, given when that was, and contracts were not artist friendly?

Re: Blew up 2 tube amps

Jack, I dropped one of the amp chassis off at the repair tech yesterday. After repairs, he said he would hook up a variac, and see if anything else blows.

Re: Blew up 2 tube amps

I don't think the Bassman suffered too much damage. The Super Twin Reverb, on the other hand, may have lost a resister or two also. The capacitor melted pretty bad before I smelled anything and...

Blew up 2 tube amps

In the last 2 days, I decided to fire up 2 amps that have been idle for a number of years. A Fender Super Twin Reverb 180Watt from 1979 and a Fender Bassman (AB165) from 1968 or 1969. After playing...

Re: Building an Amp by Hand

Wow Darryl, I also checked out his website. Very high quality all around. At $4,800 for the 45 watt model, I don't think I would want to use one of those in some of the dive bars we used to play,...

Building an Amp by Hand

Has anyone ever bought one of the kits from StewMack? I am looking at their '59 Tweed 15 Watt Amp Kit. It seems kind of pricey, considering you have to measure and cut all of the jumpers, install...

Re: RIP Eddie Van Halen

I was lucky to see VH on their first national tour in '78. They opened for the Stones and Doobies in the New Orleans Superdome. Saw them with Sammy about 12 to 15 years ago. Unique musical talent....

Christian, After opening Pro Tools, (but not a session) open task manager and right click on ProTools. Click on set affinity and uncheck core 0 and 1, leaving cores 2 through 13 checked. Then...

Re: Let's hear your latest stuff....right here

Here is a song recorded on a Roland VS 1680. The other songs on my channel were mostly recorded on my Pro Tools Rig.

Re: Check out my new Youtube channel - Sax in the Park

How did you monitor the first horn when you overdubbed the second one? I didn't see any earbuds.

Re: Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaias

Glad you guys made it thru the storm OK. We are used to tropical systems down here near the coast, but that doesn't make them less scary. The longest I was without power was 10 days after Hurricane...

Re: RIP Charlie Daniels

I saw Charlie Daniels in the 80's at Gilley's Club in Pasedena, TX (where the Urban Cowboy movie was filmed). Still remember the show.

Re: Mac dvd drives - region specific?

Yes I watch most of my concert dvds on my computer rather than on my TV. I have a decent speaker system connected.

Re: Mac dvd drives - region specific?

Sorry, I didn't know that was frowned upon Darryl. I just use it to archive my DVD's.

Re: Mac dvd drives - region specific?

Use some free software like DVD-Shrink to rip the DVD into your computer, then burn a DVD. It seems to get around the region thing.

Re: Artist Channels on Youtube

For my music "videos", I just used still photos, and had them change every 30 seconds or so. I used Adobe Premiere Elements to import the audio and photos. Then I added some text at the beginning...

Re: More inputs and outputs

Check out the Behringer ADA 8200. ( I use the older model 8000).

Edit: It's limited to 44.1K or 48K. Not sure if other units have such a limitation.

Re: How do you use an analog mixer with Protools?

Re: How do you use an analog mixer with Protools?

Thanks for the suggestion Bob. What do you mean by latency doesn't matter if you feed reverb from the monitor mix? Does latency only occur on tracks that are being recorded? So if I create a send...

Re: How do you use an analog mixer with Protools?

I do the same thing, using my Tascam M-320B mixer left over from my reel-to-reel tape days. If the singer want's some reverb in his headphone mix, I just insert an external Lexicon reverb unit into...
