Re: Authorization code for legacy Pro Tools & Plugins

Hi, welcome to the community.

I'm afraid those DigiDesign era codes not sold anywhere anymore. Only way you can get one is buying hardware that comes with the version you want.

Re: HDX or Native in this scenario

HDX is at its best on S6L and you should really think that desk when you use your HDX on computer. Everything on DSP and you need to have a reason to go Native. That way it is great. Mix and match...

Re: Can I use 2 hd core card?

Card order *must* be core card first, accel cards second, process cards last. Now back in the day core card was the most expensive so not many had more than one in a system, I am not so sure if you...

Re: One or more licenses to surrender cannot be found in your account

At least you have the licenses on your license key. Try to deactivate them so they are in your account "cloud" then try again.

Re: External Hard Drive for both projects and samples? Workflow Ideas?

Swapping the superdrive for SSD is a good idea if opening the box anyway. Should you need DVD these days, external unit is dirt cheap and USB does not harm its performance. With that said, my DVD...

Re: External Hard Drive for both projects and samples? Workflow Ideas?

No, but if you do that you can store sessions on your internal system drive and have samples on external.

Re: Quad-core 3.2GHz powerful enough for ProTools?

Hi, welcome to the community.

That Mac Pro 5,1 will be just fine processor power wise (and can be upgraded later for more performance) but you will want to order 32GB memory upgrade if you are...

Re: new mac tower

If you buy, you may want a dual-cpu model because those are super powerful when you eventually upgrade it to 5,1 with newer processors. Single-cpu models are obviously cheaper.

Re: new mac tower

Maybe you would still want to consider that 2nd hand Mac Pro 4,1 model which can run 10.6.8 OS and PT 8.1.1 (which is IMO the most stable combination ever)

Re: new mac tower

Have you already understood that the cards you have are not supported after 10.8.5 OS version? Even if you use Logic, you need to stay on that OS.

Re: new mac tower

If you want to buy brand new 2019 Mac Pro, you need to forget about using anything old. You need everything else brand new too. You need brand new PT license and you also need HDX or HDN card,...

Re: new mac tower

Yes, if by "new tower" you mean 4,1 or 5,1 model and not the 2019 model that can be bought brand new. You only need to follow the compatibility information linked earlier; to repeat myself, install...

Re: new mac tower

Yes I understand that, but with the HD (TDM) cards max. PT version is 10.3.10 and it is supported on 10.8.5 OS (though with some quirks it also works on 10.9.5).

I know for sure that Mac Pro...

Re: new mac tower

Read the compatibility info I linked earlier. You cannot buy the new 2019 tower because it requires way too new OS -- take a look at 4,1 or 5,1 models, those are great for what you need.

Re: One or more licenses to surrender cannot be found in your account

Go open your iLok License Manager and double-check the licenses are on the key you think they are. Maybe they are not there but somewhere else.
