Re: BUG on Pro Tools Drag anything

Working here with 10.15.7 and 2020.9 for weeks and no problem at all.
Maybe it's his Hackintosh?

Re: 2020.9!

You're right.
But as far as I can see PT is not making a different voice count if it is a mono or stereo track anymore.

Re: Output Dither

That is not my point that's a physically fact!

When Bob and Paul chimed in your same discussion at GS you knew the answer already.

Re: Output Dither

This, exactly, is the point.
You are adding dither noise at -138dbfs which is masked by analog noise at -110dbfs.
It doesn't make any sense at all.

Re: Output Dither

You really know what you did?
You didn't record with 24bit, you recorded with less than 4 bit.
And if you gain it up to 24 bit it still is a 4 bit recording.
The dither noise you added is working...

Re: Output Dither

I don't know if PT is dithering from 64float to 24fixed but what I know is, that it doesn't make any sense to dither after the physical output.
It needs to be dithered in the 64float to 24fixed...

Re: Output Dither

Dithering just works in the LSB and there is, with 24 fixed / 32 float, always noise.
That's the difference between 24 and 16bit fixed where dithering make sense.

Re: Output Dither

OK, it is 24 bits deep but does the signal have full 144db dynamic without noise?
You can treat the noise with dither noise so that the noise sounds better as it is truncated but I don´t think it...

Re: Popping and Crackling - the next thread ...

That's why I asked for syncing problems.
I had an external device which worked without any problems in 44.1 and 48 but had real problems in 88.2 and 96.

Re: Popping and Crackling - the next thread ...

HDX or Native?
Is the crackling going to be better if you increase the buffer size?
Is it just with 96khz sessions?
Sync problems?

Re: Prevent Pro Tools from disabling screensaver on Windows 10

What about a HDMI switch box with remote?
I think it's better to switch the input as to switch the power.
Is your monitor able to go into black (instead of blue or whatever) if there's no input?
