Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

I'm gonna chime in here and hopefully not throw you a curve ball.
I opted for the Gigabyte GA-P75-D3 when doing my research about upgrading from my HD3 to HD4 Hack. It is a very stable build and...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Yes, I have a 256GB m-sata SSD and it works great.
Not as fast as my primary SSD but that is connected to Sata 0 which is faster.
m-Sata is 3Gb transfer speed. Sata 0 on the MB is 6Gb.
Needless to...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

PT10HD4 and the P75 work fine together. I posted my setup build on TonyMac.
I'm having an issue with the Avid PCI i/o in the AudioMidi setup.

While testing the switching between the PT10 and PT11...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

sonorelli, I wanted to use my UA2192 as my D/A converter and it does not have an optical option.

For some reason I could not get ML stable on my GA-H55-USB3 MB.
It has been retired for a new...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

0level, I have both PT10HD3 and PT11 on my machine and they run fine together, although I am running L 10.7.5 I can't get ML 10.8.4 to run as of yet.

You have to upgrade to PT10.3.6 and then do...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Has anyone gotten a working HD4 system with this MB?
If so can you give the details...
PT9 or PT10?
SL or L?

I'd really like to build a new Hack and the Jetway MB has lots of +s over the GA-...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Yes, I'd have to agree. The core card is always the FIRST connection according to Avid's documentation.
But hey.... if it's not broke don't fix it.
;-)

Happy to hear the good news.

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Bill, if you are PC savy and can follow the build notes docmented somewhere in this thread than try the Jetway MB. You will get an HD3 system.
HD4 is unproven as of yet. I have no PC skills and...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

The CPU would be Ivybridge and that shouldn't be an issue.
It's all about native support of the PCI bus on the MB.
From everything I've read this MB should work fine with the Mac OS & PT.

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

The chipset has native support for PCI.
It's outlined in the user manual and I called Gigabyte tech support to confirm that as well.
There should be no reason the Digidesign cards would not work....

I haven't started the new build yet but from what I'm reading, yes, the chipset works.

How many cores have you assigned in the playback engine.
And the box that says... Might cause audible clicks...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

I know nothing about PCs. I've always worked on a Mac.
He only built an HD2 system that took him a full 7 days to get running.

The process he outlined would give me a nervous breakdown.

DigitalMetal, I am using HD and yes the H55 is an 1156 CPU socket.
It's over clocked, rocket fast and stable with both PT9HD OSX 10.6.8 &
PT10HD OSX 10.7.4

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

Fatcode, can I ask why you are trying to use Bluetooth?
In some audio app? Or are you just trying to get it to work for the sake of it?

I find bluetooth a huge waste of time for most everything....

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

You won't need LLM with an HD system.
Unless you're just saying you'll have the advantage of LLM.
You will and you'll enjoy it.

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

If you're building a PCI system you might have a challenge as the two PCI slots are not side by side.
Also one of those slots has the heat sink behind it so there might be a problem with the getting...

Re: New Hackintosh / PT7 monster HD PCI Rig

No it's not.
I know there has been a lot of conjecture about this on these forums.
As long as they purchase the OS from Apple they, you or I can put it in whatever machine we want. That is the law...
