Re: Identical Crash threads....

What I meant was - in what way were the sessions themselves different. Different sample rate? File type? Bit depth? Were you using video in them and not the others or vice versa? Any particular...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

What have you tried, exactly? Can you post your plug-in version list and a complete description of your system, drives, peripherals, etc? Also, are you doing anything in particular when the crash...

Was there anything about those sessions that was different from the others?

Re: Identical Crash threads....

Sorry about that - your messages, for whatever reason, were caught in my spam filter, which I get an enormous amount of email in and sorting through it can take a very long time.

What I see from...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

Oh boy. I'm going to qualify this by saying that I hope no one will twist my words or use them against me at any point, since technically giving any kind of specifics on release dates is verboten.

Re: Identical Crash threads....

We're actually working on something like this and I should be getting a very basic tool shortly that will be a step in the right direction.

In the meantime you can send your crash report as a...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

Brian - I'm not sure if you read the rest of this thread, but the FW Audio Callback is a red herring. The other info in the crash log is likely to give us more insight into what's happening on your...

Could we possibly get the session that this occurs in?

Re: Identical Crash threads....

It absolutely will be as soon as possible - it's just difficult to predict how quickly it can be fixed and how fast testing can go (as there are usually several fixes in any particular CS release,...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

fullmonty - I think we've got your issue nailed down (it may even have been your sessions that helped) and it's in the queue for a CS fix. I don't know how long until the next CS release will be...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

As mentioned before the FWCallback is a complete red herring. We have looked through many of these crash logs and there are several causes, many of them unrelated. So, while you're all posting in the...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

Can I also get more info on your system configuration - as much detail as possible, as well as crash logs and a plug-in version list?

Re: Identical Crash threads....

I've looked through all your posts, but didn't see where you've posted the details on your system or the crashes.

What do you mean by 'there is a definite issue with fade files' - what are you...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

Can anyone experiencing these crashes please let us know if turning off DSP Caching changes the frequency of the crashes or eliminates them entirely?

Re: Identical Crash threads....

We are still investigating the possible causes of these issues - they're rather nefarious and there's isn't a clear-cut indication of the source of the problems, but we're (hopefully) narrowing it...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

If they're different each time, it would be good to get them. If they're the same, we don't need it.

Always be sure to list your system config and what you were doing at the tine of the crash,...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

We do need your logs posted, if possible.

After looking at many of these, the FWAudioCallback line is a red herring - these crashes are being caused by a number of different possibilities, but...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

A quick update on this issue - while the FWAudioCallback is a common thread in these crash logs, it is ultimately not the reason for the crashes - it's (relatively? completely?) coincidental.

So,...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

It would help immensely if everyone experiencing this could include their entire crash log.

To do so, reply but make sure you're in 'advanced' mode - at the top of the reply window you'll see...

Re: Identical Crash threads....

All of the problems I'm seeing so far are calls back to the OS - meaning the OS is handling some data before passing it back to Pro Tools. What's causing it to crash at that point is still a mystery....

Re: Identical Crash threads....

Can anyone experiencing this issue test another hypothesis for me? (We'd do it here, but do not have a machine experiencing these issues).

Please remove the DigiReWire plug-in from your plug-ins...

Just paste it between [CODE] tags, but make the ending tag with a slash '/' in front of the C in CODE.

Re: Identical Crash threads....

Does this occur if you have the firewire drives and all fw peripherals disconnected?

Re: Identical Crash threads....

Does this problem occur if you don't have the Powercore attached? The reason I ask is that this issue is firewire related and the Powercore certainly could be a factor.
