Strange, I always thought you absolutely needed to have your interface connected to the core card

Alternatively, does anyone know if it is possible to mix PCI and PCIe Accel cards in the system?

Sorry, but this is pretty stupid thing to even think as PCI Core card itself is non-accel

I edited my post to say that yeah, you need to remove the heatsink of southbridge and saw a groove for the card to fit. Removal of the heatsink is easy, it is held with plastic pins that can be...

As you see from my sig I have a similar 4 PCI mobo and with Win7 PT10HD Accel4 it runs just fine, no problems.

EDIT: But you need to use tools to fit the card over heatsink, that is true.
