Straight scoop needed: Can you install PT 10 on top of PT 9?

Power Mac; OS 10.6.8 is the computer.

I've seen different views on this. I definitely do not want to reinstall a myriad of plugins or even the OS from scratch.

If I uninstalled PT 9 and...

Re: Pro Tools 10 Free Trial Update

I have HD 3 accel running thru apogees ad/da. Even with trial update, it doesn't make much sense to even try. The apogees are 24 bit Sotheby's 32 bit is not usable. A channel strip, multiple audio...

Re: Sunday's a good day to try Pro Tools HD 10 - is the demo up yet?

Maybe if they didn't have to fire all those employees they could have got it done by now.

Avid's Decsision to Obsolete RTAS and TDM plugins is Stupid

By choosing to ditch TDM and RTAS with PT 11 that means that all the 3rd party plugs and instruments that most of use will no longer work and have to be upgraded, that is if an upgrade is even...

Re: OK I drank the kool aid and went to 10

96khz doesn't work .... What kind of bs is that? If this is true then a total reason not to upgrade. I record in96 all the time.

Re: 10/28/2011 Avid's stock sinks to new low....

pt 11 and hdx will doom this company. It is just too damn expensive in this day and age. I doubt there will be mass purchases necessary to lift this sinking ship called AVID.

I like to go with the...

Re: It's simple: don't upgrade.

I would think that just the real big time studios upgrade now -- but even there they probably know not to jump into a embryonic release. For the rest of us -- the majority-- I say boycott PT10 HD or...

Re: Protools 10HD upgrade to from 9 is 999.99 ..... WHY

Max

No doubt a lot of time and talent went Into upgrade. That does not justify the totally absurd upgrade cost for HD. I hope that Avid doesn't go bust. Wtf were you people thinking?

Re: Protools 10HD upgrade to from 9 is 999.99 ..... WHY

Wait. I have Pro Tools HD9 -- you mean I have to pay a grand for a software update? That is blanking outrageous. AVID -- I know your stock price has tanked but you shouldn't be looking to fleece your...

Re: Mac Pro (Nehalem) doesn't boot consistently with Pro Tools HD PCIe cards installe

What the heck. I called (long distance) 4 times. Each time after giving me a message Avid hung up on me! In the meantime, my computer is consistently not booting.

Re: @AVID: Please give us an HD8 to 9 upgrade with HEAT

Not a chance of upgrading to PT 9 from PT8 HD without Heat or 64 bit. So what I can use on a different computer. don't need the extra tracks /busses. Not worth the dough AVId wants.

Re: AVIDs Website is the most confusing site I have ever browsed

Digi .... Please don't try to justify this website. I am a Pro Tools HD3 owner and love the product, but Avid's website totally sucks. Navigation isn't where it should be is an understatement.

Re: Absolutely no reason to upgrade to 8.1?

In it's wisdom dig I mean avid retired r/ stopped supporting it's midi interface. tt is not an optional install in 8.1 -- unlike 8.0 and its predessors. Totally bogus and for that reason up grade...

Absolutely no reason to upgrade to 8.1?

8.1 does not support dig midi interface which means no midi or buy new interface and pull dig midi out of rack. Already have Pheonix so could just put on all chaneell in 8.04 if want HEAT effect plus...

Re: PT 8 | Too hard on the Eyes | Digi Please Read

Digi -- I have to now wear reading glasses to navigate fine points in PT 8. Never had to do that in prior versions. REading glasses and music = uncool. Please fix this -- the program, not my eyes.

Re: Click question

Guys, thanks for the replies. I figured there had to be a way to do this and the new PT 8 help system while very neat in and of itself did not give me a ready answer.

Re: Pro Tools 8 Not Ready for Prime Time -- at least not here

Not to be deterred I determined most of the problems were from the transfer from Tiger to Leopard. If you are trying to do definitely go in within a strategy. Fortunately, I have 4 hard drives in...

Re: Pro Tools 8 Not Ready for Prime Time -- at least not here

no reason here but do have some other rewire stuff. I agree that the probe can be traced to upgrading to leopard. Any advice on getting plugs in tiger to transfer over easily to leopard? Thanks

Pro Tools 8 Not Ready for Prime Time -- at least not here

I had been running PT TDM 7.4 (HD 3 Acel PCIe) on Mac 10.4.9. A few bugs but overall fairly stable. When PT 8 came out I decided to take the plunge to Leopard and PT 8 (despite the old adage not to...
