Figured it out. Re-ran the installation, but THIS time, I unzipped and ran from the folder, rather than running from the zipped file. Duh. Both worked, but one took.

I was running PT8.x on OSX Snow Leopard. I upgraded both PT to v9, and SL to Lion in one shot. So I never had PT8 running on Lion.
