Re: Power PC but get error "Pro Tools ran out of CPU power."

... and interface and driver version?
... and IO buffer size? What session sample rate?

You should at least have tried trashing prefs, removing all aaxplugin files from the plugin folder, trying...

Re: Core Audio???

Just fire up the other apps, they can use any other CoreAudio resources on the systems, Built-In output, the Mbox2 Mini, whatever you want.... the challenge is what do you want to do with that analog...

Re: 16" MBP - Anyone Get One yet?

Yes you are right, I was brain farting on the last i9 gen in 15" MBP.

But again, be careful of assuming CPU marketing part numbers tell you the whole story. And again the high-level point is there...

Re: 16" MBP - Anyone Get One yet?

Oh stop. I was not being patronizing, I was answering your question about patching utilities. Yes... agreeing with you as I noted.

The CPUs are different, at least in maximum number of cores...

Re: 16" MBP - Anyone Get One yet?

There is no generic "patcher utility" that fixes stuff, the fundamental issue is new device support, GPU, LCD screen, keyboard, CPU, all at least slightly different... and be careful looking for...

Re: 16" MBP - Anyone Get One yet?

What has time machine got to do with anything? **If** this OS ran on the new 16" MBP then you just run the installer and build a USB flash stick installer or add a new disk partition to the internal...

Re: 16" MBP - Anyone Get One yet?

This worked for you with what? A new 16" MBP? If so great, but all indications on the interwebs is this MBP will not run Mojave, which is expected for a major hardware update. So all we need to...

Re: Pro Tools First in Education setting

I would have stuck with Adobe Audition. Having the interface drive what you do here is kinda backwards. Sounds like time to replace those. Focusrite and Presonus offer nice low-cost hardware.

Pro...

Re: DigiLink I/O, 12.6. Mojave?

^^ yep. But please make sure that Pro Tools is actually starting up as HD (finds the correct HD license). That is the simplest explanation why you are not seeing DigiLink hardware.

Re: DigiLink I/O, 12.6. Mojave?

And I will contribute the idiot comment: Make sure you are running Pro Tools Ultimate or HD. Pro Tools standard will never see the DigiLink... make sure Pro Tools is starting up as Ultimate, you...

Re: For heaven's sake, will you update the drivers for MBOX 3 please, Avid?

If you want to look for a replacement interface you can ask here for suggestions and let folks know what you are doing/connections you need etc. One of the main things many folks here would look for...

Re: For heaven's sake, will you update the drivers for MBOX 3 please, Avid?

Avid *has* abandoned this device. That's exactly what they have done, and they've made that clear. It's end of life. You should not be expecting any software updates.

Re: Low disc space on boot drive mystery

Lots of places to look to see where stuff is growing.

Core files and logs are suspects. Look at all the logs shown by Console.app. /var/log, /usr/local/var etc.

Even simple old UNIX things like...

Avid Link like its predecessor is super fragile and buggy. You are just creating problems for yourself. Uninstall Link and download your plugins from your Avid Account and install them manually.

Re: pro tools could not initialize the focusrite usb asio

The normal reasons 48 kHz sessions fail is if some other software has the driver open at any other clock rate (usually 44.1 kHz) then trying to change to 48 kHz will fail. Same likely happens if you...

Re: OK to change bit rate for an existing session?

You are asking about the bit depth, not really the the bit rate (OK the bit rate changes with bit depth art fixed sample rate, but still...). Which may be why you are not finding anything. Folks do...

Re: pro tools could not initialize the focusrite usb asio

Really double check that Windows sound and no other apps are trying to use that interface, that is very likely to be the cause here. Did Focusrite support work through that with you?

Lots of posts...

Re: Pro Tools + ASIO4ALL = Lag so bad I can't record

“High buffer rates”? Something is confused there. A more powerful computer and better set up computer handles lower IO buffer sizes and higher sample rates.

What is your sample rate? Calculate...
