The often and occasionally muting aux channel

This is driving me nuts.

Finishing up a mix. I have two kick drum tracks (real and trigger) bussed to an aux send. That Aux channel has one plugin (an EQ). On occasion, audio simply won't pass...

Re: New Licensing

If post/high end is Avid's niche, I get the need to focus on that.

But the fact remains that the $199/yr "vanilla" product is crippled below what the competition offers at that price. And that's...

Re: New Licensing

This seems like a pretty logical path of thinking...

There must be a price point (like $199/yr) where a Pro Tools HD software subscription (that doesn't require HD hardware) would attract enough...

Re: New Licensing

Exactly.

Selling a broken product and then hitting customers with a bill around the time it's finally (somewhat) fixed is poor form and bad customer relations...not just regular...

Re: New Licensing

I may be in the minority that feel this way, but a large portion of the concern and ill feelings about all of this is that I already feel like I've paid for beta software with PT11...

Random...

Re: New Licensing

This is the opposite of my experience and of several of my (also professional) producer and engineer friends'.

Re: New Licensing

Yep. After upgrading to PT11 and going through hell with latency/sync bugs along with unreliable offline bounce bugs, I've already been seriously considering a move to Logic.

If this new yearly...

Re: Can't download Pro Tools. Help?

Okay...it did indeed seem to have something to do with my internet access. Just tethered to my iPhone and the download is happening (hello, phone bill).

Thanks and sorry for the false alarm.

Re: Can't download Pro Tools. Help?

Yes, I've thought of that. However, it's not a problem with the file size. I can download a 2+GB file from toontrack.com. And I don't ever use the download manager, but for some odd reason the Avid...

Can't download Pro Tools. Help?

Out of town for a job...having issues and decided to download and reinstall Pro Tools 11.

Log in to my Avid account, find Pro Tools 11 under my products, click the download link, wait...wait...and...

Re: How's Offline Bounce Working for You?

Have had a couple situations where using an offline bounce got me in trouble. Once, a percussion track was randomly out of time with everything else. Another time, a snare track was just missing. No...

Re: Delay Comp stuff again

Well…see above where I said I was having this bug happen a couple days ago while every track in my session was routed directly to the interface outputs.

But, also, there's various reasons why...

Re: Delay Comp stuff again

Well, I had all my tracks routed to the interface outs yesterday and still had the random latency issues. So, I think the group bus/mix bus thing could further destabilize things but it's definitely...

Re: Delay Comp stuff again

Things aren't getting any better over here. Was tracking a vocalist all day. Everything would be working fine and then just randomly the vocalist would be getting massive latency while in record....

Re: Delay Comp stuff again

Wow. Really? Have you found that just when recording, or anytime you're routing through 2 Aux busses?

What a disaster. It may be time for me to switch back to PT10.

Delay Comp stuff again

Tracking an overdub on a session that uses busses. Delay compensation is turned on.

Here's how the session is set up:

Existing Audio Tracks --> Aux Track1 (MIX BUS) --> Interface Out
New Audio...

Re: 11.2.1: Instrument Track delay compensation problem

<snip>

Unfortunately this isn't the case for me. It's pretty obviously playing out of sync when using Maschine on an Instrument track. Turns into an absolute train wreck if I've got an audio...

Re: 11.2.1: Instrument Track delay compensation problem

I've been too busy with work to comprehensively test this further today…but it is definitely audibly out of sync (Maschine plays early) if I don't disable delay reporting on an Inst version of...

Re: 11.2.1: Instrument Track delay compensation problem

Well...as I've been messing with this, I've found that if I control-command click the delay setting to bypass it on the Instrument track, it will play in sync with the same plugin on an Aux track. If...

11.2.1: Instrument Track delay compensation problem

When using Maschine, Kontakt or Massive (or probably others, I'm guessing) on an Instrument track, Delay Compensation does not happen properly. If I use it on an Audio or Aux track it seems okay.

Re: out of sync during pre-roll

Audio. Like I said, the *audio* in my track I'm currently recording is what plays out of sync during pre-roll. Once I'm punched in, it's fine.

I discovered that if I'm in quickpunch mode (which I...

out of sync during pre-roll

Am I missing something?

Track is in Auto Input mode. During pre-roll, I hear the preceding audio on that track playing back out of sync. As in way early.

More than a little distracting when...

Re: Delay Compensation bug in PT11 with AOS plug-ins

That's what I did. It all works, except that there's not one "master" plugin that you can audition EZDrummer MIDI files on, etc. But once your MIDI data is there it's all in sync at least.

Re: Delay Compensation bug in PT11 with AOS plug-ins

With overheads and rooms you have to load up the whole kit on those plugin instances and then just solo the overhead or room channels.

One thing I hadn't thought of when I first did this...you...
