direct i/o vs. asio

Does anybody know of any reasons for preferring either asio or direct i/o for use with Logic 5.5?

Okay, I ordered Pro Tools LE today. I think it's an expensive way to get a driver for use with 3rd party software, but it's cheaper than buying another another audio card.

I wouldn't disable it. RME recommends disabling it for audio if using Windows 2000, but recommends NOT disabling it if using XP.

XP handles interrupts differently from 2000.

Thanks for your comments about DIO and Logic Audio.

Although not stated explicity by either Emagic or Digidesign, it appears that Logic Audio will only work with Digidesign Hardware on Windows XP...

If your audio drive contains your session as well as audio file and is a separate driver from your system drive, you shouldn't have a problem with losing those files. Just don't delete anything on...

I don't think anyone has been able to get the driver to work with Windows XP and AM III. I know I haven't.

The driver installs okay, but nothing can access it.

If you're buying the card, get a QE revision. Some systems have problems with left digital channel with QC.

I had the same problem as you guys. System sounds disabled, "Do not map through this device" checked.

So I tried disabling the Wave Driver and enabling Direct I/O in Logic Audio. Now I get error...

Have you tried the suggestion in the answerbase.

It says you have to check "Do not map through this device" in multimedia properties to avoid 6010 errors with Windows XP.

I haven't installed...
