I wish I had a solution or even a hot trail to follow. However, at this point, I'm having to abandon controlling external devices via MIDI altogether as I can no longer make my setup work with PTMP...

I feel your pain and there doesn't seem to be much hope on the horizon. There are certain issues I've seen the Avid folks acknowledge, putting something like "behavior observed" in their support...

I just upgraded to 10.6.3 from 10.5.8...the problem persists.

No plugins that aren't listed on the plugin compatibility page, nothing else running, no spotlight, etc.

I think it really depends on how robust your system is. The way I understand it, clicks and pops are a result of insufficient system resources.
